I believe a stout should be a celebration of all the robust flavors of its signature style. Therefore, I created the Sixpoint Otis as an accentuation of the distinguishing characteristics of stout beer: roasted flavor, full body, and hop bitterness.
My favorite style of stout is Oatmeal Stout - a rare variety that earns its name from brewers adding whole flaked oats to the mash. When added in small quantities, I find the oats do not typically add much flavor to the stouts, but they have an incredible impact on the mouthfeel and body.
Celebrate our Oatmeal Stout by enjoying its texture! The oats provide a silky, velvety mouthfeel. Celebrate our Oatmeal stout by enjoying its roastedness! I add extra quantities of roasted barley – the malt that lends stout beer its dark color – to provide a flavor of rich coffee. Celebrate our Oatmeal Stout by enjoying its balance! The deep caramel, toffee, and molasses flavors are complimented by even additions of hops throughout.
Celebrate by ordering a pint of the Otis!

Served on nitro at Beer Run. Pours a hazy reddish brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Average head retention. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, chocolate and earthy hops. The taste is earthy notes, roasted malts, coffee, caramel and a hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Low carbonation.

Some bar in Williamsburg, NY pint ($6): Pours a black color with a creamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and hops. This is very bitter for a sweet stout (in fact, are not oatmeal stouts typically regarded just as normal stouts?). Good amount of hops complimented by the roasted malts. Very soft carbonation and very creamy mouthfeel work together rather well. Chocolate and coffee notes abound. A solid, easy drinking stout.

Location: Draft at Rattle 'N' Hum, 7/25/10
Aroma: Mostly chocolate and coffee malts on the nose
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with some lace
Flavor: Some sweetness in the flavor, roast, slightly bitter finish
Palate: Mouthfeel is rather smooth and creamy, medium (leaning light for the style) bodied
Overall Impression: Another beer that I thought for sure I would have rated previously. I've seen this one many times, and had it before as well. A solid stout for sure.

Draft at Barcade. A good, standard stout. Dark brown pour with a strong, creamy beige hear. Very roasted malt aroma: Lots of coffee and milk chocolate. More burnt malts in the flavor, as well as some expresso and brown sugar. More cocoa and coffee, as well as hints of tobacco, in a dry, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full bodied, slightly chewy, smooth. A solid stout.
