2014 World Beer Cup® Gold Award Winner, American-Style IPA. Hops in your face. Crisp, mouthwatering, American citrus hops dominate for an ideal IPA character. It’s hopped before, during and after the boil with late boil additions of Citra and Amarillo for a complex flavor profile. The rich golden color comes from a blend of English and American base malts accented with substantial amounts of Vienna and Wheat malt. This is the beer that started it all for NoDa Brewing.

Crisp copper coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright tropical fruits and resinous, dank hops along with some mild sugars, a pleasant malt backbone and some subdued herbal and grassy notes near the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive tropical fruits and resinous hops with a nice bitter bite near the beginning, showing some mild sugars, a light bit of grass and herbal flavours and finishing with a smooth and balanced malt backbone. Aftertaste shows more of the hop characteristics with a lot of passionfruit, guava and bitter resin flavours, but also some light sweetness and a dry grassy finish which balances this out quite well. Overall, a very well-balanced IPA that shows a hop-centric character with the tropical fruits and resinous qualities the strongest, but the balance is just right and the bitterness keeps going to the very end. Definitely worth trying to find if you like IPAs and live anywhere close to the south! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from GrapeVine in Fort Mill, South Carolina on 21-August-2017 after watching the eclipse in South Carolina for US$3,40 sampled at home in Washington on 05-October-2017. This can was made on 14-July-2017 with the hashtag #ShowYourCans. Canned: 14-July-2017 // Purchased: 21-August-2017 // Sampled: 05-October-2017

On tap at A Taste of Carolina at CLT. Clear medium amber with a two finger off white head that fades slowly and leaves some patchy lace. Nose has lots of pine and citrus. Light sweet malt with a medium+ bitterness. Mouth is medium slick with average carbonation. Decent. 8/3+/7+/4-/15

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 7/18/2016. Pours slightly hazy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel/nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, light caramel/nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, apricot, mango, lemon/orange rind, toasted biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.2%. Overall this is an excellent IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of juicy citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the aggressive bitterness. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottom of the can stamped 03/24/15.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking copper color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving light streams of lacing.
The smell had a glossy sweet citrus to light bitter citrus imparting a light spice to balance.
The taste was sweet to bitter and added the light spice to enliven and help to accentuate a nice bitterness rolling into the aftertaste and adding a decent dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation rolls over my tongue nicely with a good IPA harshness. The bitterness level is at a medium level.
Overall, I say this was a nice AIPA that I would have again.

16 oz can pour, shared by Nick. Much thanks! Pours a fizzy orange color with a short bubbly head. Nice bready aroma with a good hop presence. Nice slightly bitter hop flavor with hints of orange. Love the hop filled flavor. Solid IPA for sure. Good stuff.

Can chugged in around 3 minutes due to late running flights at The Carolina Beer Co @ CTL, 15/02/15 start of a road trip adventure - kind of! Lightly hazed golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is pine, citric rinds, light grapefruit, straw. Taste comprises a sharp citric intake, pine is more prominent, grapefruit, bitter orange, grassy. Medium bodied, fine carboantion, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close. Decent IPA.

Tap in Charlotte airport - hazy orange - a pretty nice, chewy ipa, with a hefty malt background that is perhaps a little sweet - however, the hop profile juicy, bitter, with an acidity that cuts the sweetness nicely and brings a lot of citric flavors - bitterness lingers on the palate but is not abrasive or overpowering - this is nice.
