Can from a branch of Total wine in Sterling, Virginia. Amber in colour, with moderate carbonation. Light, herbal hops, rich, slightly toasty malts, a touch of red berry fruit sweetness, hint of caramel richness and lingering, bitter finish. An enjoyable lager.

12 ounce can into dimpled mug, canned on 8/13/2018. Pours crystal clear deep orange/copper/amber color with a small dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of brown sugar, brown bread/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light caramel/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit of fruity aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of bready malts and mild earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big brown sugar, brown bread/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light caramel/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Mild herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of brown sugar, brown bread/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light caramel/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts, and mild earthy hop flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying flavors after the finish. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with no yeasty notes present. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.8%. Overall this is a delicious marzen. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts, and mild earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the minimally bitter drying finish. Very clean and rich Pils/Munich malt complexity, with mild earthy hop balance against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example as expected.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a crystal clear copper with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Lots of fig, date and prune aromas with a fig and honey note as it warms. Sweet on the palate, with a rich, bready character. More fig and honey on the palate as well. Toasted bready malt and sweet dark fruit on the finish. Drinkable, but a bit sweeter than I like my marzens.

Thick, meaty marzen, unexpectedly rich and heavy on the caramel malt. Nutty undertones are backed up by toast and hints of cocoa and apple. Finishes without any floral hops notes to balance out the sweetness, but still very drinkable.

Its ok. Ruby tinted amber. Features a deep caramelized melanoidin type malt flavor, with that juicy thing going on. A little more bitter than expected - there's a harshness too that, a rather vague descriptor to be sure. Medium bodied, clean fermentation profile. Mostly on point style wise.
