Our interpretation of a legendary style is not for the timid. Strong, assertively hoppy and dangerously seductive. A skillful blend of three premium barley malts with generous amounts of Northern Brewer and Cascade Hops creates a special ale to satisfy even the most demanding palate.

-12 oz. bottle
-cloudy light copper w/ a fluffy light beige head
-light hoppy aroma and taste
-
-a little malt backbone, but not enough to make this a great IPA
-its a watered down orange driven IPA that finishes without a fight
-perhaps a bad bottle?

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 02/23/2012. The beer is a hazy reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma consists oh hops, malt and citrus. Medium body with flavors of citrusy hops, earthy malt and a bit of caramel. The finish is hoppy with a short grapefruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Strong pine and grapefruit hops aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Sweet orange malt initially followed by a moderately strong bitter grapefruit peel/pine hops finish. Well-made IPA.

Nice amber coloured body with a copper glow and a thin off-white head. Aroma of fresh hops and caramel with a good malt backbone. Medium-bodied; Rich hop flavours of grass and perfume come through the most with a good malt backbone, a touch of caramel. Aftertaste has a relative hop bitterness with some good sweet flavours. Overall, a good IPA - definitely worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 06-June-2008.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has strong notes of hops and grass as well as medium notes of citrus and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and a hop bite leaving notes of lemon and grapefruit - lovely.

August 2009 Beer of the Month Club , 8/31/09

Aroma: Really nice juicy citrus hop nose, some mild dough as well
Appearance: Clear copper-orange color, with a small head, and some decent lacing
Flavor: Hoppy, with a nice fresh flavor, some doughy malts as well
Palate: Medium body, drinkable, smooth, a bit dry
Overall Impression: One of the better things I have gotten from this Beer of the Month Club gift that has overall been pretty disappointing (love the idea of getting beers by mail, but they keep sending me boring stuff from breweries I can find in stores). I was pretty happy when I opened and tasted this one, that is for sure.

Bottle. Poured a clear gold with a white head. Looked to be highly carbonated. Aroma was full of citrus hops. Flavor was quite hoppy as well with citrus and piney flavor and a slight unpleasant undertone of wet wood.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy orange copper with a large frothy off white head that lasts awhile and leaves behind good sticky lacing on the glass. The aroma is floral hops with honey and citrus. Medium bodied with a sweet hop taste with caramel and citrus and a nice smooth finish. Easy to drink and hides the alcohol well. A very good IPA from Michigan Brewing Company.
