Ale Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels
I awake from a slumber that’s been anything but peaceful. I don’t take kindly to idling and I am anything but neutral. Life has nothing to do with killing time, and the knowledge that months have passed since the onset of my sequestering in this pitch-black oaken tomb (albeit a barrel flush with brilliant aromas of vanilla and char) does not sit well. But then comes a tingle followed by rejuvenating warmth, signs that something is different…something has changed…and for the better.
I feel stronger yet somehow more nimble and refined. I feel even more self-assured, and my vision for what is good and right, honest and true, is as laser-sharp as the brawny, bawdy, liquid Arrogance that shall further advance my battle against all things mediocre and geared toward the lowest common denominator. I have been born anew and, in the process, anointed with vibrant, inspiring, previously unexperienced character, all while maintaining everything I am and have always been—bold, bullish, unadulterated, and yes, Arrogant.
Are you Worthy of quaffing a beverage of this intensity, irreverence and quality craftsmanship? Not likely, but for those who “get it,” I know my time in this bourbon barrel has not been wasted. Cheers to you, enlightened imbiber. On second thought, cheers to me!

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of bourbon vanilla and raisin. Sweet taste of vanilla booze, caramel, raisin and pine in the finish. Better than the base beer.

12 oz. bottle. Ruby brown color, with a thin, tan head. The nose is brown sugar, earthiness, sharp oak and vanilla, and caramel. Very sweet and malty, with a strong bitter finish. Heavy body, thick, and a little harsh. This is a pretty nice treatment, which mellows out the Bastard just a little, but adds a lot of character.

Bottle from Stone in Asagaya. Pours a clear, reddish amber with a small latte colored head that leaves a nice ring around the glass throughout. Bourbon, oak, grass and pine dominate the nose with some light vanilla and citrus as well. Full body with average carbonation. A little bit of sweetness, but quite bitter through the finish. The finish is warming with good hop bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a reddish chestnut color with a moderate sandy head. Fairly thick lacing throughout the glass. The nose is sweet and distinctly Kentucky bourbon and oak. A sweet and inviting citrus hop note follows. Sweet up front, light bourbon, and followed by and earthy and floral hop finish. Lively. There is a good balance of sweet and bitterness. Gets a little dry, but there is enough depth to let the hop bitterness linger with the warmth of the bourbon barrel. Good stuff.

I can really taste the arrogance, a little vanilla/caramelly from the bourbon I guess. Kind of light on the bastard, but still a good beer.

Appearance is dark brown, with a half-finger beige bubbly head. Aroma- caramel, biscuity malt, hints of vanilla, sugary dark fruit, barbecued banana, coconut, sweet bread. Taste- hints of bourbon which are subtle and not overpowering. Bitter hops, sultanas, caramel biscuit, honey, burnt toast, raisin. Slightly chocolatey, with a sweet bourbon finish. Very good overall.
