New England Bucket List Trip #132. Keg at the brewpub. Pours a slightly hazy copper with a thin fizzy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of caramel malt, dark fruits, floral hops. The taste is caramel, toffee, bitter piney hops. Medium bodied, mild lingering bitterness.

Tap. Pours clear red amber with a tiny head and some lacing. Aroma is bread, caramel, light grass. Flavor is medium sweet, no real bitterness, pleasant but not really noteworthy. Medium body, no carbonation.

Sampled at the brewpub. Pours a copper colour with ruby highlights, a beige head and good lacing. Big red ale malt nose with light fruits. Mild creamy mouthfeel with a little stick and a little dry. Mild dark fruits flavours with some roasted malt and some hop. Exactly like the description, understanding why this is a favorite here. Great session.

(17 avril 2013)

Draft @ the Brew Pub. 6 oz. snifter shows dirty red color. Nose is musty and stale malts. Kind of reminds me of dirty socks. Slightly sweet caramel malt flavor with a thin-body. Weak toffee notes. I get no hops at all in this brew. It’s all malt and a bit unbalanced. Not terrible just one dimensional.

tap at the brewpub - This red brew that laces well smells and tastes of sweet caramel malt. It’s medium bodied and one dimensional though it does that dimension well enough.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark maroon color. Aroma of light coffee. Taste is weak coffee and a background of chocolate. More of a sweet stout than a red ale.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear amber with a red hue and a light brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was mainly bread and grain with out much complexity at all. Flavor was unfortunately similar with bread and grain and not much else. Lacked complexity.
