(17 avril 2013)

On tap at the source. Pours a slightly cloudy deep amber color with a wisp of a head that was gone before I knew it. Smell is tart and sour with a hint of funk. Lemons and tart cherries with a barn yard earthy edge to it. Taste is tart fruit and lactic up front with an earthy funky flavor that comes in mid to finish. Slight plastic phenol pops up but quickly goes away thankfully. Medium body with a crisp level of carbonation and a tart acidic mouthfeel. Decent sour, but not world class.

tap at the brewpub - This brew has a funky, fruity aroma with sour cherries. The flavor is sweet and fruity with wild yeast in there but it takes a back seat to the sweetness. There’s a little tartness there and a too watery body. Okay.

Vermont Pub: Pours a copperish color without too much head. A little bit of sourness and vinegar in the aroma, but not quite enough. Taste is kind of not sour enough. It is a bit watery. It is like a normal beer, but with a bit of sourness. Ultimately, it ain’t so good. My parents suggested that I send it back.

Draft: Poured a lightly hazy pale yellow color ale with a medium foamy head with OK retention. Aroma of sour notes is quite dominant with light funky yeast notes. Taste is refreshing with light funky notes and some sour notes also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not the most complex example of the style but drinkable and enjoyable.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a near clear ruby amber with with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had a good amount of tart berries with cherry coming out and some sweeter light fruits underlying. Flavor had a lot of sour berries with some backing funk to help bite into the acid.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is fruity and slight wineous. Fruity, wineous and slight citric. Lingering fruity and citric finish. Smooth.

A golden amber ale with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, very pleasant Brett, ground cherries, funky and classy. In mouth, a raspy earhty malt with butterscotch, light acid, lacking sourness, too much butter, needs aging. On tap at brewpub, July 12 2010
