31 December 2021. Cheers to the New Year's Eve crew!

Bottle from Beers@Moviefun. Bottled: 13/4/2021. Cloudy jet black, slowly thinning, beige head. Intense aroma of burnt wood, raisin, prune, fondant, charred meat, tobacco, toast, ground coffee, peated whisky. Taste has sweet prune, raisin and vaguely sourish brambleberry surrounding a bitter core of fondant, coffee & wood, intensely dark-malty and powdery with an extra layer of umami meat and smoke. Earthy hoppy finish, toasty, smoky & woody; here the dark fruits are subdued in favour of fondant and tobacco. Sweetish yet peated whisky alcohol heats the throat. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Complex and the Ardbeg barrel just adds extra depth; huge malt body to carry the 18% and it's not even boozy. Amazing!

0.33 l bottle from 'Ace Drinks', bottled in April 2021. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty, gently smoky-medicinal aroma of dark chocolate, tar, whisky, peat, coffee and even hints of vanilla. Very sweet, malty, quite roasty, gently smoky-medicinal taste of dark chocolate, peat, tar, pear, coffee and a touch of seaweed, followed by a very long, rather roasty-bitter, gently smoky-medicinal, quite boozy, fairly woody finish. Full body, smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Impressive beer, very heavy and intense, and I think that peated whiskies match extremely well with this super sweet base beer, much more than bourbon. A delight to drink, maybe a bit too boozy, but that could have been expected at 18.1% abv.

Bottle. A more or less black one, topped by a small dark tan head. Lightly peated aroma, lightly boozy, with roasted malts, licorice and some coffee hints. It's full-bodied and warming, quite sweet, with a soft carbonation. Roasted malts, peat notes, coffee hints, licorice and some toffee and brown sugar hints in the flavor. Alcohol, booze and a soft bitterness. Lasting finish. Nice, but lacking on complexity, and a bit too warming. 211106

Bottle 33 cl. Dark brown, coffee foam. Aroma: a little sour, whisky barrel, a little peat and iodine, caramel, dried figs, chocolate, bread, wine. Taste is more powerful, dense imperial smoked whiskey stout, oak, peat, insulation, a little iodine, smoked whisky, very warming, pleasant bitter finish, very good.

Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk. Appearance - dark brown to black. Thin beige head and low carbonation. Nose - chocolate and raisin. Not so much smoke but light booze. Taste - raisins and chocolate. Sweet boozy whisky but not expected Ardbeg smoke. Palate - rich and deep with a generous but elegant linger. Overall - lovely stuff!
