Many thanks for this African beer (sample 100ml) to Manslow. Dzieki Marian. piwo z centralnej afryki nie jest takie zle jak sadzilem, jeden z lepszych piw z tego kontynentu i to po testach tylko probki, zadziwiajace jest to jak wyraznie czulo sie goryczke w tym piwie. Moze ze wzgledu na panujacy klimat gozki smak lepszy bedzie niz slodki w takim upale, nawet syknelo to piwo babelki sie pojawily, mala pianka, co nieco zostawila slad na kieliszku degustacyjnym do wina.

18/1/2019. Bottle courtesy of Boris, cheers for this one! Pours effervescent pale gold with a small short lasting white head. Aroma of sweet grain, sugared fruit sweets and straw. Quite heavy sweetness, minimal bitterness. Light body, watery texture, average carbonation. Sweet finish. Not the best.

330ml bottle [I'm deeply indebted to Aziz for the next African country tick - thanks a lot!]. Barely clear, yellow-ish golden colour with small, frothy, diminishing, white head. Grainy and strawy aroma with a touch of horse dung. Taste is slightly bitter, chalky, minimally strawy; watery. Anaemic, monotonous.

50cl bouteille in Niamey. 4.5% avec au visu une bouteille qui a déjà bien vécu. Dorée, col blanc crémeux moyen. Arôme reste très basique avec de fines effluves de malt pils et un retrait houblonné assez modéré voire absent. Retrouve un nez de grains concassés. Palais est léger pas mal d’amertume surtout au niveau du grains qui donne ce côté léger métallique. Le caractère est limité mais se porte bien pour ce type de bière dans l’environnement nigérien. Fini est sec restant axé sur du pils. Reste correcte si ce n’est un poil trop légère, ce qui ici, diminue encore son caractère.

Bottle: (from the mysterious depths of Shrubber85’s cellar) Clear gold with a small white head. Sweet, corn and grain scent....basically the same taste....honestly, not too oxidized or bready considering the age and origin.... Slightly buttery, more-than-slightly grainy. Surprisingly decent. Country tick #85!

Danke an Bierkrug für das neue Land. Aber schäm dich, so ein schlechtes Bier aufzutischen ;-) Wässriger, stark karbonisierter Beginn mit abgestandenen Nboten, die entfernt an Getreide erinnern. Diese bleiben erhalten und bessern sich nicht mehr. Schlecht, schlecht, schlecht! 11/3/5/3/5/3

Bottle at First German Ratebeer gathering at Idar Oberstein courtesy of Bierkrug. Barley malt and rubber band aroma. Golden yellow color with small head. Decent sweet barley malt initially but has a burnt rubber finish. Drinkable but only just. / Second bottle shared with the Cincy crew (obviously this was also courtesy of Bierkrug). Surprisingly aging this beer for 4 years did not hurt this beer in the least - it lost all the rubber band notes I got in the initial tasting mild corn/barley malt aroma, golden yellow, sweet barley malt flavor, light body - now just tastes at least as decent as Old Milwaukee or Busch. Who would have thought aging a pale lager would have worked so well?
