Dominion Ale is brewed in an English style with American Two-Row Pale, Caramel, and Black malts. We use Perle, Willamette, and Mount Hood hops from the Pacific Northwest and English Kent Golding Hops. We ferment our ale with a traditional American yeast in the German Kolsch style - warm, fast fermentation followed by a slow maturation. Dominion Ale is malty with an assertive hop character dominated by the Kent Golding. It is crystal clear amber colored with medium body. Widely available in bottles and on draft, often as a house brand name.

From bottle. Smells rather malty. Darker than pale lager in an orangy way. Smoother creamy initial impressions. Refreshing somewhat enjoyable beer. Easy going at first but then the malty bitterness begins to set in. Bold enjoyable stinging fine co2. Slippery fun goes down nicely. Makes me think of that great divide beer. Hides what alky it it has, rather well.

12oz bottle - according to the label "Brewed and Bottled by Old Dominion Brewing Co Ltd, Dover, DE" - so strange that it’s not listed under them. Pours a dull amber with a trace of white head; straightforward malty aroma and flavour with some peppery caramel adding to the complexity; the finish is dry with little sign of any hops, certainly no trace of Goldings as I know them.

Very good pub ale. Light, crisp and smooth with notable caramel malt. It’s good for sitting at the pub. That’s about it. Rated 3/17/03

Tap at the Dulles location. Pours a very dark copper with a creamy/frothy near white head. Aroma seems dusty. Near medium body with smooth, bubbly carbonation. Not really all that bitter, but definitely tasty. Theres enough hop tobalance the light roast malt. It truly brings to mind AB American Ale. Finishes lightly fruity. Better than many.

Overall Impression: A nice tasty ale with a decent balance between the hops and the malts, leaning toward the malty side.

Bottle. Amber beer with a light cream colored head. Light malt aroma. Malt and an almost vanilla like flavor (a bit sweet, but not too bad). Medium body. Malt and light caramel linger with that almost-vanilla-like quality.

Draught at Old Dominion Brewhouse, Washington DC
Deep blond color. It’s brewed without flaws and without character. The aroma is very light, the flavor has just some malt and some more caramel showing at the end.
