Our Dark India Pale Ale features all the tasty attributes of a standard IPA, yet juxtaposed against a black malt canvas. With a prominent maltiness that meets up with the bitterness and hop presence from 5 different hops, this brew is not short on character.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber with small off white head. The aroma is floral hop and pine. Medium mouthfeel with a strong bitter hop and long lingering dry finish. A good black IPA from Pyramid.

Very large glass at the airport. Pours with a clear to nearly black body...brown I guess, large, fluffy and retentive tan head. Aromas are decently hoppy, citrus, zesty if not tart, husky molasses, spicy and roasty. Flavors are roast, molasses, nutty, medium to light bitterness, citrusy and spicy hops. I drank a lot of this. Not my favorite beer by any (ANY) means, but I wasn’t quite CHOKING this down either. A dichotomy between not good nor offensive, but not really good at all. Medium to fuller bodied. Somewhat sweet, roasty, Medium carbonation. Drinkable, I guess.

Bottle. Almost pitch black pour with thick beige head. Much lacing. Hoppy aroma, perhaps not as full as it should be. Well balanced caramel, toast and hop body. Good finish, pairs well with roast beef

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark ruby hue with a medium tan/grey head. A sweet toasted malt nose with citrus. A nice porter base with some chocolates and light roast, dry, fruity citrus hops, light bitterness. Enjoyable. Pretty much a solid BIPA with lingering orange rind and pine.

On tap. Pours out a dark brown almost black topped with a tan head. Aroma is porter like but with hops leading the way. Citrus and floral hops along with some sweet roast. Taste was more of the citrus hops and roast malts.

Tap at Toronado SF, paired with a cheeseburger from next door (it was Tuesday). Clearish black, small tan head. Tons of roasted malts, coffee grounds, with a nice hoppy bite. I like black IPAs!!!

Tap at the Sacramento Pyramid. It pours really dark brown. Creamy beige head. Strong piney aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is really mild hop bitter over very smooth dark malt. Mild hop? Mild bitter. Lots of hop. Like floral with pine. Drinks really well. Probably rather mediocre/mundane for the "style", but on it’s own it’s a very solid, drinkable and enjoyable beer.
