This was the beer we had in mind when we decided to brew Chinese craft beers. Honey Ma Gold is an easy-drinking ale enlivened by floral Sichuan peppercorns and local honey from an apiary near the Great Wall. The Honey Ma Gold was GLB's first brew and still our proudest creation.

2014 Asia Beer Cup Silver Medal winner.

Taster at Captain Melville (Melbourne). Amber. Honey and spice nose. Nice aromatic chilli pepper flavours balanced with the honey sweetness. That works very well.

Darker orange, small head. Aroma is sweet, malt, fruity, honey, Taste is the same, peppery touch, sweet, alcohol. Ok

Where: MBCC 2018.
Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head.
Aroma: Fruit, malt, caramel, honey, spices.
Body: Medium body and carbonation.

Keg at MBCC 2018 Blue (session Zwei), 11/05/18. Lightly hazed golden orange with a decent off white covering. Nose is fruit cake, spice, straw, grains. Taste comprises sweet malts, bittersweet taste, light honey, stewed fruits, light peppery spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so.

MBCC 2018. Blue. Blood and Fists session. Keg. Light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Light dry palate, decent fine carbonation. Mild citrus and dry floral fruits. Fair dose of hot pepper. Bitterish dry finish. Dry, bitter and hot, not a combination I would ever relish in a beer.

Sample @ MBCC. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are malt, honey, fruits, flowers and hops. Light sweet finish.

Tap at Mikkeller Bangkok. Poured a hazy straw colour with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt, some honey and light spices. The flavour is light bitter with a light sweet malt, pepper, spicy light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Ok, but nothing special. All the flavours are too weak and very much in the background. Great Leap have brewed better beers than this.

Draught @ MBCC '17 [ Yellow Session ]. - Mikkeller Beer Copenhagen Celebration 2017, Øksnehallen, Halmtorvet 11, 1700 København V, Danmark. [ As Great Leap Honey Ma Gold ].Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, sweet malt, honey, light spicy - pepper ! Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, spicy - pepper, honey, pale malt, sweet malt, minerals. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20170512] 7-3-7-3-14
