Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is huge roast, dark chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with sweet roasted malt, rye, and dark chocolate, light bitter finish. Good.

Bottle shared by Bruce, thanks for the opportunity! Solid black color with a smallish tan head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of oaky wood, roasted coffee, milk chocolate and caramel. The flavor is a complex mix of caramel, chocolate, a bit of spice, vanilla, and wood tannins with a hint of earth. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a creamy silky mouthfeel. Nice imperial stout. The rye adds a hint of spice that compliments the creamy sweetness well.

Tap at Max’s Taphouse, Baltimore - 22/05/12. Dark brown approaching black with a medium tan head. Big chocolate nose, lots of roasted malt backing this up, puff of smoke to finish. Tastes marry nose allied to a little dark fruit and a hint of vanilla. Didn’t really get the rye! Medium bodied, little carbonation, good smooth finish.

Bomber from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized dark brown fizzy head that fades like cola. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts and an earthy note. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, rye and a mild hop note. Medium bodied, smooth, slight lingering bitterness, low carbonation. Nice beer.

Charred pork, smoke aroma. Chocolate? No. Black pour with a thick beige head. Flavor is smoke and, baker’s chocolate. Ah, there it is. Umami and almost salty, but lightly bitter, not sweet at all. Alcohol not noticeable, medium body, easy carbonation. A lot of seemingly different flavors and aromas coming together in a harmonious blend. Wow, good stuff.

Location: Draft at Arundal Mills Brewpub, 5/28/12
Aroma: The nose has lots of rye whiskey, chocolate, and coffee
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small light brown head
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, lots of whiskey and chocolate flavors
Palate: The body is full, with a creamy, slightly chalky feel, and some medium heat
Overall Impression: This one is interesting for sure. It's not too sweet, but still a lot of chocolate, and the rye whiskey flavor is prominent and clear as well. This was a nice one the get to try.

Draft/Nitro: Poured a thick chocolate to black with a thin light brown whisper of head. Aroma is chocolate. Taste is interesting with a touch of chocolate, a bit chalky as well, and yet a smooth finish.

Draft at BWI. Black with tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Taste is Hershey bar with a slight bitter edge. More of a stout than a porter, but tasty anyway.
