Wheat Monkey Ale captures the fresh, unfiltered spontaneity of our brewers’ creativity. Crisp and refreshing year-round, this American Wheat Ale pours a lazy, hazy golden color. Its large, white, foamy head can be attributed to the generous amount of malted white wheat added to the mash. The aroma is enhanced by our fruity house ale yeast and its fresh baked bread flavors are perfectly balanced with a Cascade hop addition.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a very slightly cloudy, very light yellow with almost no head. Aroma of dirty wheat with slight hints of coriander and citrus. Taste is light sweet. A little wheat with a slight clove aftertaste. Light bodied with a very thin texture. Flat carbonation and not much of a finish. Meh, drinkable but nothing at all special.

Bottle - Some of the fruit ester’s expected, but very muted and with a bit of grass. Clear gold with a minimal head. Grainy and and sweet with little bitterness and a clean finish. Pretty basic and nothing to exciting.

Bottle @ home. Pours a quite hazy, golden orangish appearance with a fluffy, off-white head. Fairly spicy, wheat malty, orange citrusy, light banana aroma. Lightly tart, orange fruity, somewhat yeasty, spicy, bready, a bit chewy flavor. Pretty decent wheat ale.

Draft at Lakefront. Hazy yellow tan. Creamy thick white head. A US wheat, some corny husk action, mild wheatiness. One dimensional, sweet and sugary. Sub par, unimpressive, generous numerical rate.

Bottle from Half Time. Pours light gold with a rather transient foamy white head. Aroma is sort of cooked wheat with a little citrus. A bit swampy. Med body. Flavor is bready wheat and light citrus. There’s not a huge amount of flavor, but it’s fairly clean. Finishes perhaps a bit sweet, but if so hardly at all. More gummy than bitter.

Orange body with a very thin slightly off-white head. Aroma of light malt, wheat, yeast and a touch of coriander seed. Light-bodied; Strong wheat flavour with a touch of sweetness, honey and a lot of herbal flavours afterwards. Aftertaste shows some light coriander seed and a bit of yeast, coupled with some sweet fruit. Overall, a decent, but not too potent wheat - showing perhaps too much single-tracked wheat and yeast and not enough of the complexities usually coupled with wheats. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 04-September-2010, sampled on 10-September-2010 at home in Washington.
