Some Liquor Store in DC six-pack ($11.99): Pours pale gold with your white head. Aroma is of slight skunk, grains, and a modicum of hops. Taste is pretty similar to Heineken, but perhaps with less of that rotten vegetable flavor. Obviously, this is really easy drinking, but ultimately utterly boring. A disappointing beer for my first sampling of Iceland. Although frankly, I knew what I was getting in to.

Bottle at Bar Pilar. Very pale yellow, thin white head, scant lacing. Aroma of burnt rice. Taste is bitter and acidic, start to finish. No character or complexity. Best skipped.

(Draught at Saga Hotel, Reykjavik, Iceland, 30 Aug 2007) Pale yellow colour with white head. Malty nose with slight notes of grassy hops (well hidden but identifiable). Same goes with the taste: malty with modest notes of grassy hops. Definitely on the thin side. Nothing wrong with it, just plain boring.

Bottle at Brickskeller. Boring beer, with that said it’s about as good as a regular pale lager can hope to be.

A hazy light yellow beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of citrus and corn, while the flavor is sweet malty, and the body thin. Boring.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pale pilsener golden with a very small, lightly creamy head. Lovely hop-aromatic nose, but it’s gone in no time leaving no traces whatsoever. Some sweetness from the malt and some stickiness from the corn. Only a weak hint of hops. 230605

While drinking this beer one can easily conclude that barley is expensiveon Iceland, but water is not.

You know, I've heard that Iceland is relatively pollution-free. That might explain why this water tastes so pure. What's that? 'Bjor' means 'beer'? Really?
