From old tasting notes. Labeled as "Gibbs Mew The Bishop’s Tipple Special Ale". Clear orange gold color with a large beige head. Light toasted malt nose. Semi-sweet spicy foretaste. Bittersweet malty finish. Dry hoppy aftertaste of long duration. Mildly complex and flavorful. Ale-like and full-bodied. Well rounded and tasty.

Fro notes. 1997 tasting. Bottle. Clear amber color with a thin white head that disappeared quickly and left scant lacing. Aroma of toffee and caramel. Flavor has lots of malts, some citrus, and a bit of light spice. Slightly bitter finish. Nice.

(Bottle 50 cl) 5.5% ABV in my version. Neat amber coloured beer with a small, dense head. Very soft and smooth with notes of lightly sweet caramel and a wee touch of smoke. 200500

A red beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of fruit especially peach as well as yeast. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of peach and a dry hoppy end.

Amber colour. Very nice hop aroma, herbal. Some sweetness, light malt; good hopping, but spoiled by a metallic sensation. The palate doesn't keep what the aroma promises.

Whisky-coloured. Fullbodied and salmiac-bitter. Good stuff!.................

Ushers makes this now? Damn English brewing consolidation, hard for us over here to keep track of this stuff. Anyway, great malty old ale - robust, good development of earthy, lightly chewy malt flavours.
