St. George Porter weaves a complex tapestry of flavors in a black, ruby colored ale. A rich malt base, typical of St. George Ales, results in caramel and chocolate tones, classically balanced with English bittering and aromatic hops.

Dark with a light tan head. Lightly roasted aroma, some molasses, nutty, chocolate, light spicy earth notes. Thin body. Nice chocolatey malt, a touch of roast, some caramel, and mild nutty notes. Finish has a touch of bittersweet malt. Top-notch porter.

Location: 12 oz bottle from jcos, 3/13/11
Aroma: It has a roasty and smokey aroma, malt heavy, some chocolate and caramel notes
Appearance: It pours into the glass a dark brown color with a small beige head, light lace
Flavor: This one has a nice smooth roasted porter flavor, burnt, chocolate, and smoke notes too
Palate: The mouthfeel is well-rounded, medium (plus) bodied, with a fairly smooth and clean finish to it
Overall Impression: Thanks Justin! (I'm getting use to writing that since you hooked me up with so many beers!) Anyway, I was relatively impressed with this one. A solid example of the style that does what it sets out to do.

Impressive porter. Dark brown color, good foamy head. Rich aroma is heavy on chocolate. Flavor is very chocolate, a bit of coffee, light roast. Moderate palate, balanced, can’t really call it semi-sweet or semi-dry, but its in and around there. Richly flavored, robust yet very easy to drink. One of the top porters I’ve had, right up there with Anchor.

This beer was brought to me by a friend who had traveled out of state. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy dark brown head. The aroma was tangy, sour, malty and lightly roasty. The flavor was dry, roasty and lightly bitter with a hint of weak coffee, a touch of wood and a smoky undertone. The finish was dry, woody, smoky and roasty. Decent.

Nice deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, pit fruits, prunes, caramel and light brown sugar. Medium to Light-bodied; Strong assertive malts with a good caramel sweetness behind. Aftertaste shows some complexity, but pretty light - especially for the style; more caramel and sweetness comes out, but a bit of the bitterness from malt still remains. Overall, a good but not overwhelmingly good beer. I’ve preferred others from this brewery over this one. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia, sampled on 23-January-2009 at home in Washington.

The aroma was not overly strong, but definitely black cherry. It poured dark with a small cream head and good lacing. The taste was definitely black cherry with a smoky finish and well balanced hops. I’d say this is a good porter, if you like that style, better than Guiness.

Bottle. A very sweet caramel and nutty aroma. Dark opaque brown color with next to no head. Smoky creamy chocolate malt flavor - nice and strong with an ashy/astringent finish that is a bit rough. A tad bit harsher than many porters.
