I love the way this all comes together, some savory winter spices blending perfectly with the peaty character of the Scotch ale. Nice fluffy head on a cloudy dark copper body. Earthy, malty aroma. Taste brings more winter spice, which lingers afterward. All around a great winter warmer.

On tap at Stateside, pours a hazy amber orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out caramel, brown sugar, and bready malt. Flavour is less sweet than expected, with notes of caramel, bready malt, and a fairly prominent spiciness in there that cuts down the sweetness. Balanced and drinkable, yet nothing overly provocative. Decent.

12oz bottle poured into Gordonβs thistle glass. Surprisingly there is some particles, floaties in this beer despite the clear bottom of the bottle. A dark amber-brown color. A glow o the beer with low clarity. A medium sized head that leaves a surface covering lacing. Aroma is slightly grassy with a slightly syrupy malt character. Its not hoppy, its not too sweet (yet there is a faint barley syrup candy aspect). In the flavor there is also a bit of toffee and slightly fruity. But this is pretty damn good for a six pack Scotch Ale. Medium body with an aftertaste of light fruit-syrup.

Cloudy dark amber color with creamy head. Light aroma. Smooth mouthfeel, quite round, with moderate residual sweetness; good Scottish malt flavor, lightly smokey, lean, lightly fruity; correct bitterness.
Pleasant drink.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark mahogany color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Toasted malt, fruit and hops in the nose. Medium body with flavors of dark fruit, earthy malt and hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz bottle. Opaque burgundy-brown, with a respectable beige head. Smooth malt aroma, not much that I can discern, pretty mild. Big malt-centered body with lots of flavorful, sugary dark malt tones. Mellow, soft carbonation, quite true to style in itβs body. Rich and full, with some sticky, piny hop bitterness. A pretty nice Winter Ale in my opinion, well crafted...love to have it on tap.
