Cask at The Scottish Real Ale Festival 2014. Pours black, no head. Aromas of coffee and chocolate, light raw booze. Taste brings some ash, charcoal, more coffee. Quite sweet. Seemed a bit fresh, but still good.

Bottle from Alesela. It pours jet black black with a thick dark tan head. The nose is rich roast, coffee, dark chocolate, mild acidity and a touch of tang. The taste is rich roast, coffee, earth, touch of spice, jammy fruit, salted caramel, some acidity, alcohol warmth and chocolate with a bitter-sweet finish. Full body, fine carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Drinks well for the abv. Smooth and well balanced. Nice work.

Cask @ Benleva Hotel, Drum
Pitch black, bubbly dark tan head with some lacing
Aroma - soft dark roast malts, touch of chocolate, surprisingly light aroma, no alcohol at all
Taste - soft deep dark malts, rich dark chocolate malts, soft earthy malts, touch of dark berry fruits, very soft coffee, alcohol well hidden, quite complex, smooth flavour
Palate - very soft carb, medium to full body, powdery texture. Finish - rather dry, bit powdery with soft deep rich and quite sweet roasted chocolate malt....also some soft burnt earthy roast
Overall - Well made imperial stout - it’s not hard to drink for the abv
