For this unique Dutch Bock beer, we returned to the German origins of the Bock style. Unlike the regular Bock beers produced in the Netherlands, this is a low fermentation Bock resulting in a relatively clear, “clean” beer with a full, malty taste. The roasted malt makes it glow an orangey red, and whereas malt dominates taste and colour, the Tettnanger hop provides the exact slight spicyness autumn requires.

Tap at ’t IJ, Amsterdam: Dark amber colored brew with an nicely sweet bitter taste, hints of caramel and roasted malts like an traditional Dutch Bock.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear reddish amber colour, beige head. Aroma of grain, nuts, some caramel. Flavour is dry, grainy, caramel, nuts, some berries, bitter finish. Light-bodied. Lacks depth IMHO, tastes more like an Alt to me.

On tap @ the brewery. Rather clear, red-brown color. Light beige head, not long lasting. Aroma’s: slightly vegetal, grain. Retronasal it’s sweet malts, grain, light (red) fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, grainish, light bitter. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Rather high carbo. Finishes a bit roasted and light bitter. Decent.
