Een ode aan de oersmaak van pils. Dat is Brand Up, of Urtyp Pilsener.

Oct 2010: Brown 33cl bottle reviewed during on of my ’Pilsner/Lager’ tasting evenings. It had two months life on being poured into my stemmed ’La Chouffe’ tulip. Really pale, just like a Helles should be, medium sized white head. Usual odourless lager/pilsner, gets my regular score of 3 for smell. It may well be clean and clear, it is also almost tasteless, but strangely I enjoyed it. Refreshing and drier than I normally prefer my lager based beers, this one however touched the spot as it were.

Think I tasted this at KBC Den Bosch 2011. Nothing much to tell actually, just another pilsener as there are so many.

Not too special. It’s a bit like a regular lager/pilsner, only a bit stronger in taste and smell. Easy to drink.

Yellow golden colour, white head, small and not really lasting. Aroma of hops, grass, hay, some floral aromas. Flavour is a bit sweet, very pleasant bitterness. Light style, thin texture but very enjoyable. Some spice tones. Well balanced. Dry finish. Very good for a pilsner. (From tap)

[3/8/11] Draught at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of some noble hops and grainy malt. Flavor starts with some sweetish malt and continues bitter with some slightly grassy hoppiness. Light to medium-bodied. An OK Pils.

Draught at Arendsnest. Pale yellow-gold with a fine head. Hoppy aroma; very grassy. Clean hop flavor. Smooth, light, clean, with very green hops. Tasty, with a nice bitter finish. A good, clean, easy drinker.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 2 Aug 2009) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty, grassy nose with bread, hay and generous doses of grassy hops. Malty, grassy taste with notes of bread and fresh, grassy hops with a touch of citrus. Dry and bitter finish. Medium body with solid malt foundation. Very nice and refreshing pilsener.

300 ml bottle. Golden body with a small white head. A clean malty aroma. Flavor is mild malty, a bit sweet, still refreshing, fruity, grassy bitterness and a pronounced bitter finish. OK pretty straightforward pilsner.
