Heerlijk rustig genieten.

Oerol festival tap. I don’t think you should do this Brand. Backlog from 2014/06/17. Rerated from bottle sept 2016. Big sweet bananna, light caramel, bakabana. Over medium sweet, faint bitter. Medium body, frothy, thick smoothy feel. Sugarated sweet banana finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brand Weizen on 17 Jun 2014 at 17:24 - Score: 6

Tap at Oosterling. Pretty orange color, cloudy, fine tall head. Nose is wheat, grains, a bit of banana and clove. Swet creamy flavor, bananas. Simple but solid enough. Full to heavy body.

Brand’s take on the Bavarian Hefeweizen style, enjoyed from tap in Amsterdam. Thick and dense, yellowish white, moussy, frothy head over an equally clouded, deep orangey, warm peach blonde beer, a tad warmer and more ’reddish’ than usual for the style, pleasant to look at. Aroma of heaps of overripe banana, orange peel, soapy wheat, some cloves, peach, lemon, bread dough. Very soft and fluffy, lightly oily mouthfeel, smooth and a tad oily, with a very strong, but not too sweet banana flavour typical for Hefeweizen yeast, orange and peach accents, sourish and soapy wheats all blending in as well as honeyish and bready barley; light yeasty finish with refreshing wheat sourishness, a hint of cloves, lingering banana and a refreshing touch of lemon zest. Maybe not as refined as the true Bavarian Hefeweizens and clearly aimed at a larger, sweet-toothed audience, but I have a weakness for the style and I must admit that in spite of being rather straightforward, I still found this quite well balanced and technically well made. A bit boring and feeling a little bit industrial but still decently executed, like most of Brand’s beers. And I like Hefeweizen, so I did enjoy this, all things considered, though the view over ’t IJ in Amsterdam on a gentle Sunday evening may have had something to do with that.

Bottle from local Jumbo, BB Dec 15, large sample. Slight hazy golden color, medium firm frothy slight off-white head. Aroma is spicy, clove, wheat, slight banana, slight citrus. Soft bitter taste, soft sweet, bit spicy. Slight lactose note, which makes it creamy and a bit more sweet. Easy going, quite tasty, refreshing. Not exciting, but very decent stuff actually.

Hazy pale golden colour, not so much yeast residue so haziness does not change, good white head. Aroma wheat, little bit banana & lemon, earthy yeast, touch of vanilla. Taste medium sweet, light sourness, taste lacks depth and wheat. Light body, oily feel, soft carbonation, somewhat watery finish, some yeast, refreshing but a disappointing weizen.
