Sampled @ Borefts Beer Festival 2017. A very dark brown beer with a huge most good lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted bitter malt, smoked malt, coffee. Taste of sweet chocolate dark roasted malt, smoked malt, bacon.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a dense tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty. Roasted. Dense roasted. Bitter and dark malty. Roasted, bitter and dark malty. Dry and roasted finish.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks Nir A. for this bottle! Black, tan foam. Roast, chocolate, miso, soy sauce, a bit of shitake mushrooms, a bit sweetish, umami, a bit of salty and sourish hints, full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel.

(thanks for sharing!) Sampled draft @ The Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Day 2. Black. Nose is weird dark fruit, herbal, greenish weeds (now that I have read the discerption that makes sense). Taste is too herbal, black syrup herbal black liquorish weird bitter herbs, faintly green. Thick syrup, bit too weird, bitter herbal, not entirely for me but not bad, interesting concept, bit odd.

09-09-17 // taster, draft. At Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London. Well how does umami taste? I dont get seaweed or anything. Just some mild chocolate notes with roaste malts.

Brown color, almost black, light beige head with good retention and some lacework. Aroma is light roasty with coffee licorice notes. Flavor is slightly bittery, good coffee presence, some salty and black chocolate hints. Coffee and cocoa final, light smoothy mouthfeel.

Tap. Dark brown color with white head. Aroma is coffee, earthy, chocolate. Taste is coffee, chocolate, earthy, quite classic (considering the ingredients!) and comparably dry. Medium carbonation.
