Bottle, Batch 1 drunk quite young in 2008, opened for my friend’s wedding.
Awesome pour, with a slight haze to it and a bright, ruby red body with deep crimson hues throughout. Large, pink head is full and shows good retention.
Bright, acidic, lemony-tinged cherries are backed by moderate funk, but nothing too farmy. Certainly little/no sulfur. Lots of lime-like brett character and soft lactic acids.
In the mouth, it’s got a lot more oomph to it than expected, with an ultra tight carbonation and an almost chewy, wheat-like body. However, it’s still nicely dry and the cherries complement the lambic qualities rather than covering them up. Good acidity levels, not intensely sour, but with good complexity of various acids and soft funk. Cherry tartness lingers. 8/5/8/4/16
Batch 2 bottle drunk 8/3/16, also very young.
Well, this certainly didn’t have either the big, rocky, nicely retained head, nor the sumptuous, soft, ultra-tight mouthfeel...Seemingly due to oil on the cherries, the head instantly and audibly fizzles away leaving a clear, rather still-looking dark crimson-burgundy liquid behind....
The nose is sharp, quite acidic, with authentic, at least, cherry character full of black pepper and pit-like qualities. Horsey funk is there as well, but there’s some acetic character that feels very out of place. Light butteriness as well (I don’t think diacetyl).
The flavor was fine, very, very cherry forward, with all sorts of tart, juicy, pit and skin-like qualities. Strong acidity, to the point of sharpness, rather than just heavy sourness. Oily, loose, below average texture for a lambic. Not great....certainly not opening my other bottles for quite a while in hopes it improves. 7/2/7/3/13. Score is an average of the two batches.

Bottle in garden, 23rd July 16. Pours deep dark red. Aroma is rich tart cherry, cherry skin and concentrate. Taste is full and pungent. Lots of concentrated cherry, tart, and sour, but not too mouth puckering. Really good easy drinking Kriek.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/18/2015. Pours clear dark ruby red color with a 2 finger foamy pink head with solid retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Light spotty lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour cherry, cranberry, green apple, lemon peel, red grape, hay, straw, leather, musty funk, pepper, toasted oak, light red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and moderate oak notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sour cherry, cranberry, green apple, lemon peel, red grape, hay, straw, leather, musty funk, pepper, toasted oak, light red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Good amount of fruity/lactic sourness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherry, cranberry, green apple, lemon peel, red grape, hay, straw, leather, muty funk, pepper, toasted oak, light red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and moderate oak flavors; with zero astringent sour flavors lingering after the finish. Good dryness from carbonation/acidity as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, crisp, and acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible kriek lambic. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, and moderate oak flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink even with the high amount of acidity. A highly enjoyable offering.

750ml from Ohtsuki. Lindemans Cuvée René Kriek A deep ruby purple color with a jammy Kriek cherry flavor. The taste is tart ascerbic cherry with some oak tannic barrel and sweet tarts. Very balanced and tasty. It’s a wondcerful example of the style.

Clear ruby red with little foam on the edges. Aroma isred currant, cherry, some champagne, marzipan. Taste is disturbingly sour with very little fruity sweetness. Really dry mouthfeel long sour finish, very refreshing. Quite nice actually.

2008 Bottle, brilliant ruby red, offwhite layer. Light spicy cherries with pits. Medium light body, sparkly. Very dry and tart, leather, light Apple vinegar, lime, cherry/almond. Surprisingly clean and drinkable.

BB 12.08.2021. dark redish hazy color, medium big pinkish head. smells sour, tart, some fruits, marzipan, nutty, light wood, cherry notes, very smooth and lovely smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of cherries, citric, green apples, sour, wood, some nuts, marzipan, tart, lightly watery. finishes lightly citric and sour with notes of cherries and marzipan. good stuff, inbetween taste drops away a bit, but overall nice stuff.

2012 bottle from S.P.R.L. Beer Shop in Brussels. Pours deep cherry with little head. Aroma is quite cherry in a sourish way. Med body. Flavor is tart cherry. There’s some yeast, but cherry is it. Rather acidic. Tart cherry skin may be a better description. Dry, nearly astringent. Tart cherry is the thing here.
