A black beer brewed with roasted barley malt and challenger hops. Then freshly ground Arabica coffee beans, blended especially for Dark Star, are added to the copper for a few minutes after the boil to provide a rich and complementary coffee aroma. NOT EVERYONE’S CUP OF TEA!

Actual coffee stout with added coffee beans. Beige head, colour near to black; aroma and flavour dominated by a real, espresso-like coffee character, with subtle accents of peat, caramelly malts, dried fruits and charcoal. My cup of tea.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Black, medium to full-bodied with a thick frothy head. Has a fuller roasted malt aroma with coffees abundant here and in its taste.

Tasty coffee stout, nice notes of espresso, with a body of cacao malt I think. Good beer.

Bottle from Vino Wines. Black body with a thin tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma of coffee grounds, brambles and dirt. Flavour of espresso, earth and plum. Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Soft carbonation. A rich, flavoursome Stout, especially considering the ABV. It’s a bit watery, but aside from that it’s very good. Possibly better suited to cask.

(Cask at Angleterre, 20140129) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had coffee, toasted malts and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coffee, pepper, toasted malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee and bitterness. A well done coffee-infused brew.

Aroma of roasted malts and coffee. Prominent roasted, powdery malt taste. Strong coffee finish with a touch of charcoal.
