6.6.2016. Bottle Kindly shared by Gurthnar.Brown color with small tan head. Strong alcohol in aroma with ripe banana in aroma. Taste, roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, alcohol, lot of alcohol, oxidation. Not very drinkable. 2.nd bottle 19.12.2016 Everything is almost the same, oxidation is too high, surprisingly also very high carbonation.

Bottle sampled at IJssel & Gouwe Bierfestival. Hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma of huge oak barrel, vanilla, light smokey notes, caramel, malt, toffee and some overripe dark fruits. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.

0.3 l bottle from ’T-Drinks’, best before December 2019. Slight gusher. Clear, dark red with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish, malty and a little spicy aroma of caramel, cognac, chocolate, cherries, vanilla and licorice root. Sweet, malty and slightly spicy taste of caramel, raisins, cherries, vanilla, chocolate, cognac and some licorice root, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, rather spicy and a little warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Really good! Well-balanced, the barrel adds great depth to the beer without being overpowering.

30cl bottle. Dark ruby-brown with a beige head and visible carbonation. Dried fruit, cognac and whiskey up front, followed by some milder flavors including milk chocolate, cocoa and apples. Quite a nice beer overall, my only problem is with the smell - probably due to the barrel ageing it smells a bit like fresh paint or varnish.

Fles bij Maakun. Romig cognac vanille toetje, olie achtig mondgevoel, maple syrup, heel zoet maar past bijzonder goed in geheel. Gvd wat is dit lekker!! Backlog from 2015/02/16. Bottle at home. Hazy dark brown with small off white head. Massive cognac, vanilla, lots of spices, peach yoghurt, bourbon, cream, brown sugar. Very sweet and boozy with light tart finish. Full bodied with slick feel. Maybe slightly overdone on the booze, but very enjoyable beer.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a slightly hazy medium brown with a big frothy white head. The aroma is big cognac boozy alcohol and not much else. It’s quite overpowering. The flavour is moderate sweet with a smooth, rich, sweet, malt alcohol palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Quite unusual really. Somewhat lighter than I was expecting and more boozy too and rather light. for a barrel aged beer.

Bottle from het Biermoment, BB End 2015, large sample. Clear dark brown color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of red fruit, bourbon, cookie, vanilla, roast, slight vinous, raisin. Bit sweet taste, bit boozy, slight bitter, laurel. Cookie and raisin. Base beer seems to be a bit thin and overwhelmed by the barrel aging. On second thought, it is a bit unbalanced and lacks some complexity. Still, nice sipper, but not a 4.1 Downgrading to 3.5 Bottle @ PINT Winterbier 2015, tick. Slight hazy amber color, short frothy off-white head. Aroma of vanilla, caramel, hint of raisin, bit white wine as well, bourbon. Soft sweet in taste, caramel, slight bitter. Unexpected top notch stuff.
