Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours deep red-brown with a small, bubbly tan rim. The nose is toasty, earth, big umami, sticky sweet, chinese pork, plum sauce, earth and toast. The taste is light roast, wood, toasty, alcohol warmth, umami, duck & plum sauce, booze, sticky, dark fruits, toffee and vanilla with a hot finish. Fullish body and fine carbonation. Not sure if the balance is quite there. A touch hot, but decent anyhow.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s birthday - picked up at Kris Wines I think. Pours clear brown with a bubbly off-white head. The aroma holds ripe berries, raspberry, some creamy toffee, bread. Big sweet flavor with lots of rich sugars, syrupy fruits, berries, bread, mild caramel, low bitterness. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet, mildly boozy, with more ripe and sugary berries, faint earthy bitterness can burnt bread. Novel stuff, pretty tasty. Imperial stout? No. More like American strong or something. Almost no roast, no chocolate, minimal bitterness. Still, tasty.

Black color with minimal and quickly dissapearing light beige head. Aroma has notes of peat with roasted malts and ripe black fruits. Flavor with vanilla and coconut traces, bourbon and barrel notes as well with some roasted malts notes and mild bitterness. Bitterness on palate with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

Bottle at home, 12th December 14. Pours dark brown and slightly see though, not the look of an imperial stout, the aroma is bourbon, alcohol, some molasses. Taste is smooth and complex, bourbon evident, some spice, almost a chilli heat, barrel. Very nice beer

330ml bottle, thanks to Benzai! Pours a murky very dark brown with minimal off-white head. Big sweet molasses aroma. Taste is thick and oily, lots of chocolate & figs, with a certain plumminess coming through. An enveloping taste.

33 cl bottle @ home. Bottled 28.01.2013
Flat palate, no CO2. Aroma has sweet whiskey tones, oaty malt and chocolate. Also hints of peat and smoke. Flavour is rather sweet with oaty malt, chocolate and some syrupy tones. Whiskey and alcohol are also present. The sweetness here reminds me of the malty sweet tones of doppelbocks.

330ml bottle from De Molen Webshop
Bottled on Jan 28th 2013 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny bubbly head. Aroma of syrup, bourbon, roastiness, dark chocolate, vanilla and butter. Taste is sweet, syrupy and bourbony with loads of butter, bread malts, slight roastiness and heavy amounts of vanilla. Finish is sweet, syrupy and bourbony with slight roastiness and slick toffee notes. Quite sweet and syrupy, feels more like a barley wine than an imperial stout.
