Rich taste of dark fruits and vanilla. Sweet beer, more like a barley wine, than an imperial stout. Aftertaste of crispy raisin. Great.

330 mml bottle tasted at home on 12/03/2014. First of all, when I bought this beer I expected a Imperial Stout but is more Barley Wine than Imperial Stout. The colour is a dark between brown and black. The taste is a little alcoholic with notes of wood, grapes, some berries and licorice. There is no head at all. The finish is bitter. Come on De Molen you can do it better. Awful beer. Next one please!

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Dark brown to black colour, thin light-beige head. Aroma of oak, wood, light vinous, sweet malts, alcohol, bourbon, spices. Flavour is malty, light vinous and woody, bourbon, sweet malts, watery milk chocolate, spices like clove and a hint of pepper, dark fruits, alcohol, sweet malty finish with some bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice BBA BSA IMHO. Not worth the hefty price tag though (€5.90)

33cl bottle (bottled on Jan. 28th 2013) pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a thin tan head. The aroma offers up full bourbon and booze and then oak mixed with malt sweetened dark roasted malts and a sliver of molasses. The taste begins with smooth bourbon booze, some molasses covered oak and mild vanilla. It then picks up sweet dark roasted malts that have brief moments of burnt maltiness. Pretty nice but on the thin side and after only 1 year this seems to be heading south.

Donkerrood, helder met minimale kraag. Aroma is moutig( gebrande en geroosterde), zoet, vanille, hout en bourbon. Smaken zijn redelijk zoet, redelijk bitter, zeer sterke stout, gebrande en geroosterde mouten, licht fruitig, redelijk kruidig( iets van pepertje ), vanille, chocolade. Volle body, laag co2, afdronk wat kruidig. Lekker bier !

Shared 330 ml bottle, at local tasting. ABV is 10.6%, EBU 46. Dark brown to ruby colour, minimal head. Aroma of red wine, berries, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Minimal carbonation. Very sweet flavour, vinous notes, raisins, molasses and bourbon / oak. This is a barleywine, not an imperial stout.
