Piwo o niklej pianie a praktycznie wogole ma problemy z powstaniem. Za sprawa pewnie silnej mocy alkoholowej. Kolor czerwono pomaranczowy, niezbyt metne tylko lekko przymglone. Zapach to trufle, Winiak, amaretto i koniak. W smaku posmak koniaku lub brandy lekko przysolonej ale slodkosc z barley wine takze wyczuwalna glownie owoce granatu. Troche dymu torfowego i lukrecji. Wszystko zbalansowane i zmieszane perfekcyjnie. Alkohol nie uderza do glowy, ale sie go wyczuwa wiec nie do konca jest on ukryty. Ale za to szlachetnie rozgrzewa i poprawia apetyt. Dobra ta krztyzowka gose z barley wine. Polecam

33 cl bottle @ home. Bottled 15.04.2013, BBE 2023
Aroma is rather odd with urinal cake, some caramel, fruity notes and leather. Also some urinal cake. Also some licorice and smoky tones. Flavour is very salty with licorice, some caramel and toffee. Also some biscuits and non-disturbing alcohol – this actually hides the ABV very well. Very unusual, but still quite what it promises; a mix of barley wine and gose. Not sure how to rate this but at least finishing a whole bottle would take an hour.

Notes from the last sips: aroma is fulfilled with BW’s caramel, but flavour side is fulfilled with salt from gose.

Still rather salty and sweet all the time. And still hard to rate as a beer. Harsh score estimate: 3.2.

330ml bottle

Pours dark copper orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma of leather, caramely malts, toffee and syrup. Taste is tartish, malty and slightly sour with loads of caramel, toffee and syrup. Finish is lingering sourish, tart and syrupy with caramel and toffee. Quite weird but somehow I still like this.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Just slightly hazy ruby amber colour, thin off-white head. Aroma of oak, vanilla, acetone, acid, red fruits, caramel, malts. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, red fruits, tart, acetic acid, sweetness of the barrel, vanilla, oak, sour finish, wood. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation. Lots of flavour, alcohol barely noticed. Nice stuff, albeit a bit pricy at almost €6.

Bottle, 12.2%. Vinous vanilla aroma, a little citric. Cloudy red amber colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour has a lot of vanilla, to begin with it is actually a little much, but it turns out that it is good afterall. Good sour aftertaste balances off the sweetness. Has a little paint thinner, but is still good.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with small off-white head. Clear, intense aroma of malt and caramel, and, first and foremost, booze. Soruish and sweetish flavour of fruit and malt, with notes of caramel. Clear hints of oak barrels. Vinous and sweetish finish. Tastes like a regular Barley Wine. Nothing Gose-like about it. Still, it is good.

Bottle split at the Jack is back tasting, this one I acquired at the De Molen beer store, 06/03/14. Dark amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is dark fruits, dates, BA boozey wood notes, sherry tinge come table wine redux. Taste comprises rich fruit cake, White wine BA pangs, orchard fruit, Cointreau. Full bodied, fine carbonation, boozey close. Hmmm ... not sure about this one, bit all over the shop, not for me and not again thanks!

330ml bottle. Cloudy copper colour with small, frothy, almost completely fading, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly fruity, minimally tart aroma, hints of oak and vanilla, a touch of toffee, raisin, alcohol. Taste is sweet-and-sour, fruity, fruit acid, apple must, hints of oak and vanilla, toffee, caramel, very late a touch of burning alcohol; oily texture, sticky palate, well hidden alcohol overall, alleviating carbonation. Interesting crossover, astonishingly drinkable.

Bottle shared in London - thanks be to Colin. Pours perfectly clear gold with a bubbly white head. The nose has some aged, ripe fruits, golden raisins, faint caramel, tangy white grape. Medium sweet flavor with tangy berries, fruity liqueur, old apples, slight bitter wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat oily. Warm finish, more tangy berries, slight tangy cider. Novel. OK.
