8 Ball - Big, Bold & Ballsy

One of our earliest recipes, we wanted to push this big IPA all the way. So we packed it full of Rye and dry hopped it for days with American hops, using old pool balls to weigh the hop sack down in the beer. Hence the name.

Go ahead and sink a few, be rude not to really

Amber coloured with a bit of haziness. Big and quite dense head, shows good enough persistence and nice lacing. Nice but not especially bright aroma. Caramel malts, a moderate resinous/herbal tone, citric fruitiness, slight spiciness. Taste confirms the aroma. A caramel and slightly crackery base, citric fruitiness, slight spiciness, bitter resinous and slightly floral finish. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation, highly drinkable. Overall a nicely balanced and well crafted ipa.

Appearance- amber, a bit cloudy, quite light, a huge off-white pillowy head which gradually settles. Aroma- malty bread, raisin, fruity hops, malt, zesty fruit, orange. Taste- bitter fruit, orange, hints of dark fruit, malty bread, fruitcake, bitter hoppy finish. Good stuff.

Can from the brewery. Just a top quality beer again, the dry hopping coning through with an off note of rye. Starting to think beavertown beers, especially the regulars, taste all rather samey. All great beers but more individuality would be great. ----- Can at the brewery. Lovely beer again. Take back lack of variety comments. Beavertown can be very varied. Score the same. ----- Can from the brewery, drunk at home. Put straightly, 8 ball is the best rye IPA out there so far for me. I will be surprised if I find a better one. I took it down from 4.2 to 3.8 mostly due to the fact it is not a looker as I had mistakenly put it as before. The taste is still excellent - thick on the grass and bursting with beaver hops. Not a favourite style of mine by any stretch but they do a great job. BIG grass ending takes it down a bit.

MBR. Misty orange golden. Thick offwhite head. Citric, light peachy, herbal, bit malty. Light and fresh aroma. Light taste, slightly earthy malty, bit herbal and citric. Soft, sweetish and balanced. A very clean, quite drinkable rye IPA. Quite nice.

Huge, dense cream head over orange-copper, clear beer. Very fresh-smelling, herbal & citrussy hops; also felt and a touch both catty and peppery. Citrussy, and especially resiny hops, with caramel behind. Resin mounts in importance in the finish, and into the aftertaste. Slick, creamy, suave MF, no doubt thanks to the rye. Despite the huge and stable head, feels just a tad undercarbonated. Little bit of astringency due to the resin. Quite good IPA, no discussion! Many thanks to J & T!

Cuerpo medio algo espumoso. Buena. Para repetir.
