Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 19 Nov 2015) Hazy pale amber colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grapefruit, biscuits and a touch of resin. Malty, hoppy taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, resin, pine needles, bready malt and a generous citric bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite dry. Fresh and tasty, with lots of grapefruit and hops. Excellent IPA.

Bottle, side by side with normal Sculpin. Orangish amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of grapefruit, honey, some peach, (weirdly) a hint of chocolate, some pineapple. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Sweet with lots of grapefruit and it’s nice but kind of blousy. Not what I expected at all (wondered whether it would be too astringent). Certainly the light touch of the malt in the original is lost as well as some of the crispness at the end.

Sampled on tap at the Brick Store Pub. Clear, golden color, with a small, bubbly, white head. The aroma is piney, with some strong citrusy notes. Sweet and citrusy, with a strong bitterness. Medium body, acerbic, and a little grainy. This is a pretty nice, balanced, and tasty IPA.

Keg @ Brewdog, Leeds. Bright amber with a thin head. There’s plenty of grapefruit and citrus in both aroma and taste, but both aspects remain on the side of sweet rather than sour.
