Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Dull tan. Not much head. Fruity, and a bit bitter, with light grapefruity character. Not as eye-opening as I was expecting.

Can. A- Grapefruit juice, bitter grapefruit, juicy, citrus. A- Orange color, clear liquid, white head. T- Bitter, grapefruit, juicy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, very bitter and harsh finish. O- Whoa buddy. What an aroma. This was straight up juicy grapefruit and loads of it. Like going out to a grapefruit tree, picking a ripe plump fruit and fresh squeezing. So nice. The taste follows suit with the grapefruit and bitterness, but the palate is quite harsh. I expected it to be a much juicier smooth finish, but it was overly bitter. That alone kind of ruined the beer a bit for me, but even with that it’s hard to not really enjoy it. Not a bad choice for my 100th IPA.

Keg pour at NH Brewfest. Appearance is nice golden pour, no sparkle, finger-width head with decent lacing. Aroma has decent amount of pine and spruce with mild floral/citrus--surprisingly little grapefruit. Taste is some corn chip with pine, spruce hop bitterness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with lively carbonation and bitter finish. Overall, not finding this too much different than the regular Sculpin (which is not a bad thing but not much to distinguish it).

Can at home, 23rd October 15. Pours clear not much head, quite carbonated. Atoma, tropical and citrus fruit, sweet, lilt. Taste is lilt, grapefruit hit, good bitterness. Refreshing, heavy on the grapefruit, probably good for you.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear amber with light to moderate head. Aromas of candied fruit, sweetened grapefruit, light pine and toasted malts. Flavors of bitter grapefruit, pine, and cough drops. Lasting bitter finish. Cleansing.

Can from BottleDog, Edinburgh. Hazy amber body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Nice lacing. Aroma of lemon sherbet, grapefruit and Refreshers. Flavour of grapefruit juice, lemon sweets and rust. Medium body with a light, oily texture. Soft fizz. More fruit juice than hop juice.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home while watching football at home on a lazy Monday night. Appearance is a moderate gold with a thin white head. Aroma is very rich in grapefruit, obviously. Taste is prevalent with grapefruit but not overpowering, bitterness balances sourness pretty well. Really well done.

Amber colour, white head. Mild smell of hop. Aroma of spruce, hops, mild . Mildly bitter. Flat carbon, medium palate. Not much grapefruit. Still, very baöanced.

Bottle. Fresh grapefruit juice and grapefruit peel aroma. Slightly hazy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet-tart grapefruit juice, malt, and moderately bitter grapefruit peel flavor. Great balance and body.
