Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Pint, on tap @ BJ’s Montebello, CA. Clear golden to amber color. White head with a thin layer retention. Aroma’s: resin, citrus, grapefruit, malty sweetness. Retronasal it’s citrus zest, grapefruit, resin, bitter. Flavor id bitter with moderate sweetness. Mediu bodied. Finish is full of hop, with a slightly dry, herbal bitterness. Delicious.

Can. Golden body with a big, frothy, white head. Aroma of grapefruit rind and juice, lemon, toasted grain, dough. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation. A citrus-leaning IPA with grapefruit juice — an OK balance of it, too. Light astringent bitterness in the finish pops up every few sips.

Bottle. Grapefruit overload, lots of tropical fruits and some caramel. Lovely, aggressive bitterness and a long-lasting bitter finish. Awesome!

Bouteille 355ml.

Can at Top Hops in Brooklyn. It pours clear amber with a decent white head. The nose is fresh, juicy, sweet grapefruit, lemony sherbet, toasty grass, light caramel and pine. The taste is crisp, pretty dry, bitter, clean, piney fresh, grapefruit, lemon zest, toasty grass, light dankness and touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Doesn’t really beat the regular version, but it’s tasty nonetheless.

Bottle at Winston. Clear amber copper, good white head, lace. Aroma has citrus, grapefruit and hints of caramel. Medium-bodied. Flavor is lemony and grapefruity hoppy, even with some candy feeling. Interesting.
