Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Bottle at Winston. Clear amber copper, good white head, lace. Aroma has citrus, grapefruit and hints of caramel. Medium-bodied. Flavor is lemony and grapefruity hoppy, even with some candy feeling. Interesting.

(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Sept 14 2015) Pours clear orange with a big fluffy white head and lace. Nose of grapefruit juice and zest, not surprisingly, touch of leafiness and caramel malts in support. Palate juicy zesty grapefruit again, very fruity with a bit of herbal hops and light caramel core. Bit of a bitter bite on the finish though though it’s not insanely hoppy in character, more fruit there too, and a bready touch. Maybe a touch faded from age though it’s still nice and bright. Medium body, slightly chewy, fairly soft carb. Nicely drinkable though I’d love to have this really really fresh.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - no BBE dating found, at Black Door, 20150909) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grapefruit, malts and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grapefruit, fruitiness, citricness, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had grapefruit and bitterness. A brew having a lot of grapefruit that pushed the balance a bit too much towards the unpleasant side.

12fl.oz. can. Pours a clear golden with a small, short lived, off-white head that laces. Fruity, hoppy, grapefruit aroma. Sweet, fruity, citrus flavour of grapefruit with light resin and a tart, dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.

Wow. Første gang noen balanserer en IPA med grapefrukt på rett måte, tror jeg.
