Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

From tap. Pours clear and golden yellow. Small white head. Aroma is grapefruity, citrusy and crisp hoppy. Sweet, fruity. Bitter and crisp hoppy. Dry, bitter and smooth fruity. Dry and solid hoppy finish.

(Bottle) Hazy amber with thin transient white head. Big aroma - grapefruit, pine, candy hints. Lovely palate - medium body with bright soft carbonation. Great taste - complex and interesting, and very drinkable. There’s tangy fruit with floral notes at the start. Biscuity caramel malt comes in to complement this, and get displaced by a big hoppy bitter finish. Very nice.

This one lives up to its name with a beautiful aroma of ruby red grapefruit mixed with a hint of tangerine and some nougat. On tasting, that grapefruit is bolstered with some bitter hops of the type I’m more accustomed to with Ballast Point beers. The honey malts give it lots of length in the throat and it hides its 7% alcohol very well. I likey.

Bottle 33 cl. Amber, cloudy with minimal white head. Aroma of tropical fruit and citrus. Nice bitter with nice tropical end.

Delicious, as Sculpin always is, yet I’m not entirely sure as to why we need a grapefruit version of a beer that already had tons of grapefruit notes in the original. Not entirely redundant, since you do get a strong, bright citric tartness on top of Sculpin’s normally citrus-n-caramel character, yet the finish, while holding onto a mild fruit tang, still fades dry as a bone with a clingy pine resin bitterness. Regardless, it’s tasty.

0.355 l bottle from ’Bierhalle Deconinck’, bottled in November 2016 (almost four months old). Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, very fruity and slightly resiny aroma of lots of grapefruit, blood orange, tangerine and some pine. Sweetish, moderately bitter, very fruity and slightly resiny taste of massive grapefruit, blood orange, some tangerine and a touch of pine, followed by a relatively long, very bitter, dry and slightly resiny finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite interesting, doesn’t taste bad, I don’t really dig those kind of beers though.

KØLF 240916. Golden-orange color with a white head. Aroma is grapefruit, fruit, malt. Flavor is pine, grapefruit, citrus, caramel. Easy drinkable beer.
