Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, bittering hops, toffee. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium, carbonation is a bit too high for my taste. Black IPA? There’s no roast, coffee or chocolate here. Fails at being a good IPA in my book anyway, but what do you expect when you use four kinds of malt. That being said, it’s certainly a drinkable malty bitter ale.

Bottle. Brown color, soft caramelly aroma. Malty sweetish caramelly flavor with citrus, floral and Cellar notes. Grassy earthy caramelly finish. Drinkable.

Bottle shared from the Rootz archives. Clear amber with huge fizzy beige head. Apple juice, some caramel, bitter herbs, light minerals, quite bready, kidney beans. Medium sweet and bitter. Just medium bodied with lots of fizzy carbonation. Not black and not an IPA (anymore).

Bottle picked up from World of Drinks, Markets Hall, Rotterdam, Netherlands, consumed at Camping Corfewater, Pettern, Nord, Holland, Netherlands 27th September 2016 Pours murky brown with a mid sized off white head. More malty than anything else on the nose. Taste is fruity, tangy and a bit messy in fact it really lacks a clean hoppy bite, caramel and bitterness but bit disappointed if truth be told. Very good yellow-cream head, pitting in over beautiful, clear deep oxyde-red beer, well carbonated. Faint caramel & biscuit, parsley, green leaves and a touch of rosewater’ hops, amandine. Quite bitter and dry, leafy, but also earthy. Just-not-roast, melanoidins. Only in the aftertaste, a hint of caramel/syrup returns as if something concentrated was added. Pretty well-bodied for 6% ABV. Probably explains the concentrated impression. Good carbonation; long dry MF. A twist indeed. For me, it’s not a black IPA, but I would be hard pressed to say WHAT it is, then. Which is a good thing.

On tap at Rotterdam Airport - Deep brown body, light white head. Nose is light citrus and pine. Taste is understated and a little sweet. Nothing remarkable, but intrigued to tick off a new brewery in an airport of all places.
