WILD BITTER BIER MET LOKALE CASCADE
Een rietgedekte boerderij met een oude paardenstal, een handvol geitjes in de wei, een gaard met fruitbomen achter het huis, broeiige hooibalen op het land en hopranken in de heg. Landelijke geuren, een openhartig temperament, een bier zonder tooisel maar met goudeerlijke ingrediënten: dat is Erve, ons wilde eerbetoon aan het klassieke Belgische oogstbier Saison.
Erve is een bitter, droog en rustiek tafelbier met een subtiel palet van lokale Cascade hop, die warme tropische smaken aan het bier geeft. De kenmerkende aroma’s van Brettanomyces hebben een landelijk en fruitig karakter ontwikkeld in samenspel met onze wilde huisgist. Het is gebrouwen met lokaal geteelde Heliaros tarwe, St Jansrogge en Rode Ebner spelt van de Doornik Natuurakkers bij Nijmegen. Erve is het ideale bier bij een eenvoudige maar lekkere maaltijd, of een mooie belegen boerenkaas.

Small bottle from Survival Kit A. Hazy golden with white head. Dry wheats and hay and lots of yeasty notes, quite strong bitter front block reaching the fruity notes in the back. Light sourness. Medium body and soft carbonation, sandy, chalky feel.

Tap at the source. Hazy yellow golden with white head. Dry, wheaty, grainy, light peachy, sourbread yeasty, soft herbs, milky chalky touch. Moderate sweet, faint sour touch and a smooth but quite deep bitter gamma. Medium body and soft carbonation. Bit fine sandy mouthfeel. This is really nice.
Speaking to the brewer Erve has evolved into a milder beer, the yeast is also evolving, and the beer has intentionally become more bitter.

Aroma is tart fruity notes, with spruce, cones and fresh wood, as well as hay, peppery notes, garden compost and minerals. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity notes with perfume spruce cones and fresh wood, as well as hay, peppery notes and bretty farmhouse. Bone dry finish.

375ml bottle @ Chez Sophie. Pours gold with a light mist, large voluptuous white head that forms a rocky top. Good fresh burst of brett on first sniff. Taste is quite gentle with nice sugary sweet brett, gentle wild nuances, dried flowers, citrus, green leaves, light fruity moments.. pleasant bretty saison overall.

Batch #2, bottled 29 nov. 2017. Very saison'y, surprise surprise. Dry, loads of hay, light, good dose of funky brett. Little bit of apple aroma, nicely peppery. This kind of saisons aren't really my thing, but this one is very well made. Subtle and good.

hazy golden colour, moderate sized white head, which collapses quite quickly; aroma of floral-honey, earthy, lemony, grape(seeds) and slight barnyard notes; taste of bread crust, fruity and lemony notes, some honey, sourish-dry white wine, slight grape, yeast and even some hoppy bitterness; dry mouthfeel; good one!
