With the arrival of bock beer, the brewers mark the start of autumn. In the old days this was the first beer that was made after the summer with the fresh harvest of malt and hop. Hertog Jan was the first in The Netherlands who brewed Bockbier top-fermenting. This way, the flavor of the beer comes to its own better. Hertog Jan Bockbier has a pronounced full and creamy flavor, in which a slight whisp of caramel can be found.

clear ruby-mahogany colour, one inch of creamy beige-ish-yellowish head; aroma of intensive dried plum/cookies made with plum jam (szilvalekváros kifli hájas tésztával, leginkább :) ), raisins, slight toasted rye bread and burnt sugary notes; taste is more or less the same witha bit less intensive dried fruitiness and more intensive burnt sugary-caramel notes; not bad at all! 0.3l bottle. Clear ruby red body with basicaply no head. Aroma of caramel, burnt sugar and a bit of orange zest. Taste of toast, caramel with a bit of orange zest and a tiny bit of cocoa. The toasted/burnt character is a bit overdone. I had better examples of this style.

Bottle. Color: Ruby, beige head. Aroma: Sweet, brown sugar, caramel, malt. Taste: Over medium sweet, brown sugar, caramel, dark malt. Medium body, average carbonation. Too sweet.

Draft @ De Dam, Vrouwenpolder. Dark brown colour, beige foam. Rather sweet, lots of caramel, dried plums, light bitter finish.

Thuis uit een flesje (23-9-18). Robijnrood, licht bruin schuim, mooi. 1e bokbiertje van het seizoen voor mij. Volle smaak, zoet, iets minder zou mogen, wel lekker.

Draft @ Fluor, Amersfoort. Dark brown color with a red glow. Beige head with short retention. Aroma's: sweetish, zoete drop, light red fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet, zoete drop. Medium bodied. Short finish. Meh.
