Slightly hazy brown colour, dissipating white head. Quite sour aroma, vanilla, wine, wood and redcurrants. Quite sour flavour, vanilla, mint, citrus peel and peanuts. Sour finish, quite refreshing, berries, vanilla, caramel, gooseberry and acetic acid. Nice enough sour - but while named a Wild Quad, I’d rather call it a Sour Ale than a Quad - I suspect people buying this expecting a Quadrupel style beer will be rather disappointed.

Bottle, thanks to jackl. It pours murky red-brown with pretty much no head. The nose is earth, wood, vanilla, caramel, dark fruit, raisin and candy. The taste is initially damn tart, lemon, Granny Smith apple, cider vinegar, fairly acidic, wood, dark fruit, berry and sherbet with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and low/fine carbonation. Not quite what I was expecting with the Abt/Quad style classification! Still an interesting and pretty tasty offering.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Jack for completing the Crooked Stave hattrick this evening. Hazy amber beer, no real head. Light dry palate. Pretty sour - almost acidic. Odd juxtaposition of mellow bourbon and very tart fruits. Dry finish. Just a bit beyond my comfort zone of sourness but tasty.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a murky opaque brown with a beige head. Tart balsamico nose. Medium body lowish carbonation, overripe dark fruit, sour berries and again quite some balsamico making this fairly tart. Very interesting soured Quad. 060413
