From can at 2nd Shift Brewing, STL. Clear pale yellow golden color with white head. Malty aroma, grain, straw. Sweet and light to moderate bitter taste. Light thin to oily body with soft carbonation.

Tall boy can (courtesy of Patrickctenchi and his never-ending quest for fine Pale Lagers). Corn/barley malt and hay aroma. Golden yellow with giant white head. Light barley malt and straw aroma. Very light body.

16 oz can: Clear, light gold with a tall, sudsy, white head. Sweet corn, barley malt aroma. Taste is sweet....the same players.....corn, barley malt.....and a little bit of light, light fruit.... Not really bad at all....I have a soft spot for old, classic "macro-type" lagers....PBR, Hamm’s, Blatz....for what it IS, it’s exactly right.

12oz can from Frank pours with a crystal clear watery gold body that supported a weak tan head. The mild aroma offers up some nice corn and pilsner like maltiness followed by apple to pear like fruity esters. The taste has a bit of a hoppy tang to it that has a citrus sense to it. It also brings corn and mild apple to pear fruity esters and then a sliver of malt graininess toward the finish. Not bad and this stays clear of being overly sweet.

12 oz Gold can at Waldo Pizza in Kansas City, Missouri. This one’s for you Bill. The pour is clear yellow golden with a fizzy one inch white head that fell quick. The aroma is faint, what shows is a lightly sweet soft toasted malt. Clean enough. The taste is the nose, sweet toasted malt up front, thins out pretty quick, and fairly bland and watery in the back. The palate is light bodied, active carbonation and the thin (though clean) finish. Overall, clean but boring Pale Lager - good value at the price point.

12oz can poured into a shaker. Pours a clear gold with about a finger of white head. Sweet deer on the can, extra points for that. Aroma of corn and grains. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Corn and grains. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a suprisingly long finish. Overall, I dig it. I’ll buy this every time I see it.

Can from a gas stop in Imperial, south of St. Louis, MO. Golden color with a fizzy/frothy white head. Aroma of grain with a hint of spicy/grassy hop. Near medium in body with coarse carbonation. Flavor is grainy with some mild grassy bitter. Not all that tasty, but not exactly disgusting either. Finish is mildly bready.

Clear straw colour with a thin head. Grassy aroma with rough estery character. Grainy-sour flavour profile with a quick finish. There is a light hop flavour but no real bitterness. Carbonation not too oppressive, actually. Still, this is pretty unimpressive.

Bottled. Found this at an American Legion Post in Springfield, IL. So howcum they retire Falstaff, but keep teeny-tiny old man brands like this going? Perhaps because even though the demand is very slight, it’s at least constant, so they can sell all they make. Anyway, the girl who sold it to me said "if you’re diabetic, it’s okay." But I am finding there is at least some character to this beer. Yes, a pale yellow pour with a stabilized head. There is at least a taste of malt, and if it’s usuing corn, it’s not apparent. Very light, but detectable bitterness. Some sugar taste comes up toward the end, but otherwise a clean finish. For a budget beer in a smoky bar on a hot day, it is okay.
