On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy gold with small white head. The aroma is yeast, floral, lemon zest. Medium body, yeast, citrus, earthy malt, light dry finish, very good.

Pours a slightly hazy straw from a can. Grassy and lemon aroma. Similar flavor, starts off a little sweet but finishes quite bitter. Good beer.

Can from Craft Brewed. Hit Nashville distro for CBC. Pours a clearish straw with a finger of foam that lingers. Lovely clove, banana, wheat husk and leafy hop nose. Peppercorn bitterness, lemon and pils malt. Smooth, good carbonation. Peppery, dry finish. Really nice and simple saison.

Can from Colonial Spirits Mostly clear light golden color with a decent sized bubbly white head that persists. Clove and spice atop a sweet bready maltiness. Nice saison but could be a bit dryer in my opinion.

Can, a week or so old, drunk 8/3/17.
Mostly clear, dull lemon-brass with light carbonation and a small, white head receding quickly to a ring.
Light, white pepper phenols in the nose mix with soft, leafy, seemingly traditional or tradtional/hybrid hop notes to give a dusty, grassy feel to the nose and allow the yeast characteristics to shine, more than anything else. Biscuit and honey from the malt seems light and well-attenuated and there's no clove/banana/peach or any alcohol or resin. It's definitely a saison, it's quite clean and the yeast provides the correct esters and phenols (white pepper, apple, pear, hint of dough, light black pepper) but it's not going to win any awards for depth or charm/nuance (which is why it won Silver at GABF....).
Soft, light, bready/doughy and lightly sweet (honey, cookie) with apple, lime and pear fading in to phenols and a light vegetal character that I could do without. Perhaps American hop derived? Not sure, though it's not resinous or anything. Texture is fairly soft, somewhat loose and showing a bit less carbonation than I'd like. Dry, well-attenuated.
It's clean enough and competent, though again this is about as straightforward and American (though not overly Americanized) as you're going to get for a saison. Take saison yeast, ferment in stainless at slightly warmer temps than normal. Quick secondary and we're off to the races. I can see why this won a medal at GABF as it's not messy/rough around the edges and it's not full of clove/banana/bubble gum. But it's more of a "Win by what you don't do wrong" than a "Win by what you did right" in my book, anyways.
