Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a fairly viscous, pitch black with dark brown highlights and a full two fingers of beige head that lingers. Lots of cacao nib, molasses, treacle and coffee aromas in the nose. Nice body with lingering molasses, coffee and slight chicory pepperiness on the finish. Really nice big and bold stout.

355ml bottle. Jet black colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, fading, tan head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, molasses, caramel, a touch of toffee. Taste is sweet-ish, roasty, dark malty, notes of molasses, treacle, some cocoa, caramel, dark caramel; roasty finish Minimally viscous texture, smooth, soft, minimally cloying palate, medium, soft carbonation. Not overly impressive.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent distributed release. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick soapy lacing clings on around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Insane appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/smoky earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, molasses, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, nuttiness, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of smoke, charcoal, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/smoky earthiness. Light-moderate roast/char and herbal/peppery hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, nuttiness, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread, smoke, charcoal, dark fruit, leather, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and roast/toast/smoky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, molasses, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/char bitter/sweet balance, and minimal acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 10.2% after the finish. Overall this is an amazing Russian imperial stout! All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, molasses, earthy hops, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV; with the moderately bitter/drying finish. Extremely rich and complex malts; balanced earthy hops and restrained fruity yeast notes. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a coffee brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has strong roasted malts and a good amount of booze with underlying licorice and dark chocolate. Flavor has bitter chocolate and strong roasted malts with booze and molasses coming out in the finish.
