Are You Afraid of the Dank was our very first Double IPA, and we’re stoked to bring this resin-drenched beast back. Loaded with Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo, Centennial, and CTZ, it’s a full-throttle blast of pine, citrus peel, and sticky tropical funk. Bone dry, bitter in the best way, and absolutely caked in hop oils. Not for the faint of palate and that’s just how we like it.

Can dated July 7, 2025 - only 5 days old! Pours clear light gold with small white head. Aroma is melon, grapefruit and dank. Flavor follows suit and ratchets up the dank. The finish is surprisingly quick and thin at the death - which leads to a bit of dank spike. Great beer and fun to drink so quickly after being canned.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated July 13, 2020. Aroma is fairly hop forward with lots of tropical citrus, orange, guava and passion fruit with fairly strong dank, resinous notes. Light cracker malt notes with a light alcohol note. Pours a fairly clear, brilliant gold with medium large, thick, pillowy white head that recedes slowly to a small film that lingers. Light lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with medium light cracker malt notes and hints of caramel. Fairly strong bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong hop notes of tropical citrus, orange, mango, guava and quite a bit of dank, resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid DIPA with lots of nice hop notes and a balanced malt profile to help carry the alcohol and bitterness. A solid West Coast IPA.

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is very juicy and sweet, with tropical fruits, sweet caramel and residual hop sweetness. Flavour is fairly dank, sweet and juicy, with tons of hop oils, resinous hops, and sweet caramel. Very low bitterness, almost too little, with too much sweetness. It's well-made, but rather too sweet for me. Good, but not my type of IIPA.

Bottle thanks to William. Pours a hazy gold with medium frothy white head that lasts. The aroma is strong resin and grapefruit. Medium body, dank, pine, graoefruit, lingering resin finish, very nice.

Tap at the brewery. Mostly clear golden yellow coloured pour with a fading white head. Aroma is big juicy dank hops, little chive, lemon rind. Flavour is intense juicy dank resinous hops, mango, spicy citrus, onion. Palate is resinous, highish carbonation, slightly chewy. Intense spicy hop bitterness, pretty clean. Really good.

Tried this at the brewpub, as well. Pours a nice bright amber. It’s quite clear, transparent. Medium white head. Dissipates after a bit. Just a big orangey amber glass. The aroma is sweetly dank with big fruit flavors. Pine needles, peaches, mangoes, white grapes, pineapples, raspberries. Nice and juicy. Honeysuckle with a touch of grass. Background of simple malt with a bit of caramel, only really noticeable relative to other Cellarmaker hoppy beers. Taste is full of hop flavor with moderate bitterness for a DIPA. Grass, fruit and pine in the finish. Grape skin, pineapple, tangerine, peach, raspberry. Starts out with sweet fruit, but it’s a pretty dry beer for 8.7% abv. The mouthfeel is relatively smooth, carbonation a bit lower than normal for them. Nice hop oiliness. Round full flavor coats the mouth pleasantly. Really nice DIPA. I’d take some of the smaller hoppy beers from CM over it, but that’s more personal taste. It’s still an excellent beer.
