Bottle in the Dublin airport while waiting for a plane home. Black with faint garnet at the edges when light is behind it. Huge bubbly tan head slowly recedes. Chocolate and faint roast with light bready caramel and earthy fruity to counter. Not too bad.

500 ml bottle purchased at the Dublin Airport Duty Free shop. 03/11/19 printed on the label. The pour is an opaque brown black with a ยฝ inch khaki head. The aroma is chocolate malt, bit of earth, some roast. The taste is mostly the chocolate malt, semi-sweet, with the roast coming out in the finish. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, soft silky mouthfeel and roast sweet chocolate in the finish.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass; bottled on 1/21/2019, best before 11/20/2019. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, vanilla, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas; a touch of diacetyl, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, vanilla, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, vanilla, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6%. Overall this is a delicious English porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Very soft feel, and not overly bitter/charred. Very clean and rich English malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity English yeast. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example.

Bottle, 6% @ The Fat Harryโ€™s, Bugibba. Pours hazy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aromanof malt, caramel and yeast, with fruity touches. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, chocolate and yeast, with bitter notes of roast and hops. Roasty and estery aftertaste with lactic notes. Okay.

Bottle, 6.0%. Nicely creamy and papery aroma. Black colour, seems clear. Big stable rocky light brown head. The flavour is roasted with a touch of cream. Raw liquorice note, bordering on sour.
