Bottle. Dark brown color. Aroma: apple, caramel, malt, dried fruit, raisins, Calvados. Taste: slightly watery, caramel, apple, caramel, wine, sweetish, a little bitterness, raisins, not bad.

Bottle. Asda. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Film of dense, beige head. Fairly leggy. Nose has liquorice root. Tar. Leather. Dark malt. Some coffee. Taste is a little sweet, with a hefty dose of roast malt and coffee grind bitterness. Medium body. Low carbonation. Quite rich and oily. Long roast bitterness to finish. Tasty porter.

Trademark creamy tan head stayed well on a black body. Liquorice & lactose aroma. Medium bodied, airy on the palate with thicker creamy back. Dark chocolate, berries, aniseed, stone fruit & tangy bitter finish.

0.5 l bottle from 'AH XL' (Nijmegen), best before May 2019. Clear, very dark brown to black with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of coffee, licorice and dark chocolate. Moderately sweet, malty, gently roasty taste of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee, some nuts and traces of dark fruits, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, fairly earthy-dry finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very solid, wonder wether this should rather be classified as a (Foreign) Stout.

Ce West Indies Porter a beau avoir une structure plutôt bien faire avec une belle amertume, les arômes manquent tout de même de répondant ce qui nous fait rester au stade du porter agréable. Bien entendu robe entièrement noire avec une fine mousse brune de 2 mm la surmontant. Le nez est très porté sur le la noisette grillée et de caramel avec un peu de chocolat et de café. A la dégustation, on peut faire le même constat, avec des arômes de café et de chocolat pas assez présent à mon sens pour réellement en profiter. L'attaque manque également de consistance, l'amertume est néanmoins appréciable sur des arômes de caramel, légèrement épicés. La deuxième bouche est plus intéressante avec du chocolat et une pointe de café renforcés pas du poivre. La troisième bouche est la plus amère, sur des notes de malts grillés avec notamment des arômes de noisettes mais qui retombent très vite pour un final décevant. Rien à reprocher à l'l’alcool qui, à 6 % est plutôt efficace, ni d'ailleurs à l'équilibre global, très bon. La présence en buche est moyenne cependant. Mais en définitive j'ai du mal à me passionner pour ce porter.

07.08.2018 -- 0.5l bottle from feldschlösschen shop, 3.50 fr, bb 21.01.2019. pours an opaque black with a big dense beige head and a nice lacing. aroma of roast, citrus, buckwheat porridge, cinnamon. flavour of roast, lemon, chocolate. a rather citrusy porter.

Bottle from Appie @ home (I can't believe how many of my ratings have started with that sentence recently). Brewed for Carlsberg??? Very dark, almost black, but not entirely opaque. Dense ashy beige head with a small layer retention. Aroma's: roasted, drop, sweetish, a bit aniseed. Retronasal it's sweetish, roasted, licorice, droppy. Flavor is light moderate sweet, drop, roasted. Light medium bodied. Long finish, droppy, slightly dry, light moderate bitter. Surprisingly nice!
