Bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde. Cloudy black, lasting thin, beige head. Aroma of cigarette ash, tobacco leaves, toast, burnt beef, fondant, chestnut, earth, prune, fried mushroom, soy, gravy, black coffee. Taste has sweet plum, fig, some pear in a thick chocolatey malt body with (toasted) nuts alongside it; bitter earthy middle of brown bread, toast, tobacco and umami notes of meat, beef, gravy. Earthy hoppy finish, lingering tobacco, coffee, dried fruits too, and warming whisky alcohol. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Rich, dark & potent, as I like it.

33 cl bottle from Labirratorium, served in a big snifter. It pours oily, even honey-like, coming down slowly from the bottle's mouth. A glossy pitch black pour with a thick reddish beige head that wanes off quickly. Aroma is intense roast, char, earth, black chocolate, coffee beans, caramel, molasses... Nothing unexpected when you face an imperial stout. Reduced carbonation, dry and crisp. Medium-bodied (thought it'd be much fuller due to that oily downpouring, but -nope!) Quite bitter finish (not super bitter, though.) Medium-lasting persistence.

Bottle from beerbay, spain. Pours a thick very very dark brown, almost black. smooth brown head. sweet nutty almost fruity aroma, malts, fruitiness could perhaps be coffee, but probably just sweet malts overpowering roasted malts. under the surprisingly fruity notes are a solid base of roasted malts and coffee and toasted wood. flavor is dark dried fruits, roasted malts, wood, charred wood. decent imperial stout with a little bit of belgian quad'ish qualities, like faint dried dark fruits. it does appear slightly watery compared to some of the more potent imperial stouts. aftertaste is nicely hard roasted malty.
