Draught. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is caramel, some yeast and slight fruits and alcohol. Flavour is bready, yeasty, slightly alcoholic and mild notes of some flowery hops. Balanced, and drinkable compared to the ABV.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy amber, small head. Fruity nose with burning alcohol and caramel. Very fruity with pears and melon, some grassy orangey hops chime in. Full bodied with soft mouthfel and warming alcohol. Salty finish. Too sweet for my liking, even for a doppelbock.

Tap at the brewpub during RBESG Poured a lovely bronze/amber with a thick medium sized persistant head. Some nice sweetish maltiness in the aroma with notes of orange peel and alcohol. Quite nice. The taste was almost all nice light fruity maltiness mingling with alcohol. Some hoppy? bitterness near the end. Good for the strength... a baltic porter? Erm... no? All in all, a notch over the commercial Czech beers I’ve had nearing that strength.

bottle, bought at the brewery. Hazy dark bron colour, no head at all. Aroma of liquorice. Oily mouthfeel, flavours of liquorice dominate on a solid malty background. Shy hops, not very aromatic but only adding a shy bitterness. Very low carbonation.

On tap at the brewpub: Deep golden coloured, small foamy layer, fruity-honeyish-grainy nose with distinctive traces of alcohol and yeast, but with a good amount of hops as well; medium to full sweet-bitter flavour, quite full bodied; alcoholic-bitter-sweet finish with a lingering sweet-fruity-alcoholic brandy-like aftertaste, a bit like a "Mon Cherie". Not great, but drinkable.........
