2013 gab es von der Brauerei Raschhofer die Bierreise- Reihe. Einige der Biere trifft man seitdem immer wieder unter anderem Namen; wie z.b. das Red Ale. Das Rauchbier habe ich aber seitdem nicht mehr gefunden. Es ist eigentlich nicht schlecht und es sind alle Aromen, die man von so einem Bier erwartet, vorhanden, aber man merkt doch die fehlende Erfahrung. Die Aromen wirken wortwörtlich unausgegoren. Für einen wahren Freund von Rauchbieren gibt es sicher bessere.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of smoke, bacon, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, caramel, and malt, leading to a dry smokey finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear amber with a creamy and lacing beige head. Sweet caramel aroma with a discreet smoke note. Medium body, the smoke gets a little more pronounced in the flavour, but also a little cardboard appears. A little late hops. 290911

gift from mukke. clear brown, small offwhite head. nice smoked aroma, german, faint smoked and sweet malts. flavor is malts, caramel, faint smoke, flowers. mild smoked, but great flavor.

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is smoked and light caramelish. Smoked, meaty and toasted caramelish. Smoked and medium sweet finish.

0.33 l bottle remained from last trip to Graz. It poured clear copper body with medium sized brownish head. Fine malty caramel aroma, sweetish, with only a touch of smoked malt. Flavor however showed more of it, pleasantly smoked peat, wood more than bacon for sure. Caramel, but not quite sweet malt nicely rounds it very nicely. Medium body with nice long smoky finish. Lighter than Bambergians for sure, but still an obvious rauchbier. Even more important, I really enjoyed its simple, but quality charm.

Clear amber coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, mild smoked bacon nose. Moderate malty, smoked cheese and subdued hops with pleasant mouthfeel and bitterish finish. Lighter version of Bamberger smoked beers and this one certainly goes into Top 3 Austrian smoked beers.

0.33l bottle from a sixpack bought at the Eurospar in Annenstrasse, Graz. Poured a lovely coppery colour pierced by nice streams of carbonation with a medium sized off white head. Light buttered smokey nose, more cheese than ham maybe, not too bad, slightly salty, some general malty nose. Not too pungent or wild but ok. Cute smokey taste, pleasant smoked cheese notes but ending slightly metallic, vague dried figs notes, maybe even bubblegum, some hoppy bitterness near the end. Kinda light body. This basically tastes like a (slightly higher quality) pale lager with smoked malt thrown in instead of some pale stuff, and that’s not necessarily bad, it turns into a nice sipper. They claim the recipe’s from Bamberg. Ehm, good for them, but hey, it’s not a bad beer in the end, more pleasant than the ratings so far give it credit.
