Can from Lidl [091015]
Dark brown, clear, frothy tan head
Aroma of soft grain, slight caramel, almost nothing
Taste of slight caramel malts, touch of grain, slight bitter hop, dark sugar, cardboard, weak flavour but what’s there isn’t too bad
Palate - Medium carb, ligth body, light sweet. Finish has more caramel, slight toffee in there
Overall - Hardly exciting stuff, but cheap and better drinking than macro produced lager

Sep ’14. A 0.5 l can from local Lidl. It poured clear brown body with medium sized beige head. Aroma of caramel, light coffee, grain, some herbal notes. Lightly sweet flavor, caramel and coffee dominated, not so roasted for the style, but they made assure it tasted totally fake somehow. Light herbal bitterness gradually turned into cardboard and became more obvious. Thin to medium body. One of the sweeter Schwarzbiers I’ve had, I guess the idea was to make a drinkable, average dark lager for wide masses.

Canned 500ml. -from local Lidl. Almost black coloured, medium to big sized beige head, caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, some chocolate and light cardboard with notes of wet paper in the finish. Also slight metallic. Cheap beer poor taste...usual Lidl stuff.

0.5l can at a local Lidl. Yay! A new rate! Anyway, poured a cleark daaaaaaark brown/amber, blackish, with a medium sized thick tan head that went away slightly too fast. At least it looks decent. Aroma... caramel/honey with a bit of soap and some herbal undertones, slightly metallic. Taste... smooth, soapy caramel, but with that distinct metallic/herbal note popping up randomly, and, thankfully, not all the time. "Old pipes" that azzie used is actually a very good descriptor, heh. Lighter than average, it’s actually quite nicely creamy at times, but that creaminess ends up in a lot of nothing. Thankfully very vague cardboard notes, a very mild tartness too here and there, as mild as the bitterness (veeeery vague and dull, shows up in the finish) and the dull sweetness. Not the worst schwarzbier I’ve drunk, but surely one of the most boring ones. As expected.

500 ml Can from Lidl. Piwo ciemno brazowo-rubinowe. Z fajna i trwala piana. W smaku slodowe, lekko palony slod, ale nie jest nadmiernie pszeslodzone jak wiekszosc piw w tym stylu. Goryczka w niewielkim stopniu zaznacza sie dopiero na samym koncu.

Can, 0.50, shared with friends. Clear dark brown color with small beige head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, toffee, mild roasted malt and grassy hops. Taste startswith moderate sweet mildly roasted malt, follows by grainy and grassy sourness with a touch of yeast and moderate bitter finish. Light body, thin texture and average sparkling appearance. Too plain to be decent...
