Bottle at home. Aroma is dark malt, loads of Bourbon, oak, caramel, vanilla, fudge, sweet milk chocolate. Flavour is quite sweet with a hint of bitterness in the finish, but I mostly get lots of sweetness. Body is full and rich. Yeah, very smooth and sweet Imperial Bourbon caramel fudge chocolate Stout. Pretty refined. Good!

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, black bread, liquorice, vanilla, bourbon and some wood. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with notes of black coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon, caramel, vanilla, oak wood, liquorice and a sweetish and vinous finish with a balanced coffee bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Powerful and really tasty with a good bourbon barrel character. Great beer.

Virtually black with a thin, creamy, beige head. Big amaretto aroma with oak, marshmallows and vanilla underneath. Taste is sweet, full of chocolate, caramel and overripe plums. The barrel is evident at the finish. Full-bodied, mild carbonation. I kept expecting this one to just be too cloying after a few sips, but it never went that far—there’s a rough, grainy, woody feel that smooths out all the amaretto and all the sweetness. Pleasant sipping.

I am down to the last couple of beers sent to me by good friend Benzai last fall. So it is with pleasure that I have a 33 cl bottle of M & M (BBA) for sampling this evening. The standard version has been tasted before, one of my first with De Molen, and I liked it considerably. Can barrel aging make an improvement? My ABGB tulip glass from Austin is out for this one. The appearance is a dark mahogany brown finished with a the barest ring of light tan foam around the rim of the glass. An inspirational scent, I determine dark chocolate and some booziness. The taste tops the smell. Caramel, baking chocolate, dark plum, bourbon, sorghum molasses, what more can an imperial stout need. A high level brew indeed. Thanks Rene.

Tap @ Borefts. Deep dark brown color, malt and apple mousse in the aroma and flavor. Vanilla. Sweet with a soft alcohol burn.
